I'm Hoping to Reach Someone who could help me out .
I Have a 98 C43 AMG with a toasted engine . I'm looking for some help locating a 55 engine withe the oil pan upfront . Has to b in the R129 family anything newer and the oil pan won't clear a lower frame member . I ended up with a 5.0 engine I can't use from what the mechanic told me.
So far finding a decent engine has been rather difficult. I also need to see if I can find someone around the northern Cali area , the mechanics around here ... don't realy care to try this swap.
this car means more to me than I can put into words , not sure putting a whole life story would help , but life has been rather challenging, and I don't have to many years left before I lose my license over a medical issue , I'd like to enjoy what time I have driving a car I put so much into .

If I recall, you can use a C55 engine from most of the MB platforms, but in certain cases you need to change the oil sump pickuo and sump to accomodate the lower crossmember.

Oddz83 I'm located in Southern California and have (2) C43 engines that I might be open to selling. I know you are looking for the 5.4L versions, but let me know if you change your mind.

I may consider sticking with the 4.3 .
Just depends on price and milage on the engine.

I looked in the c43 sticky the 01-02 shows up in there . Definitely going to double check the oil pan placement has to be upfront , hopefully it is .
ebay don't have cheap 5.5 amg engines under 100k.
but I'll check a few salvage yards for the cars u mention aswell just incase.
