Air Filters?

Hi, I want to hear from C43 owners regardin g thier air filter, have any of you changed your stock filter to a K&N or the green filter. Have you noticed any improvements in power, smoother revs, etc.

Also, how you do pull the air box off the engine, I heard there are 3 bolts somewhere that need to come off.

Well please share your experiences with these air filter, thanks

I have had the K and N filters in every car I have ever owned. From a jeep wrangler yj sahara to a c43 to a clk430, and soon a c55.

I think they are great because my engine runs great, I don't have to worry about replacing the air filter on time, which simplifies maintenance, and you get some improvement in fuel mileage, horsepower, and torque.

Will the butt dyno feel it? Most probably not now, but when you start modifiying other parts of your car, you can get synergy. In other words, perhaps more air into an engine creates more airflow out (exhaust) which makes a larger exhaust more useful since you have changed the spec of the engine exhaust making a larger exhaust better than it would be for a stock car that had stock exhaust flow.

If you made it through that last paragraph, then congratulations; however, to sum up, you may not feel the benefits of air filter replacement until you complement that replacement with other engine modifications.

k&n filters are ok.. they do require cleaning and then some oiling. they work on some cars and don't work on other cars... iirc, k&n filters drop a few hp on the bmw m5

I wasn't impressed with the K&N in my C43. I'm now back to stock filters

You can just pull off the airbox. It is held in place by clips over a rubber stopper.
