Thanks guys. I'm only considering 2016 C450s and 2017 C43s, not whatever face-lift version you are talking about. For me the warranty issue is not a deal breaker. If I bought a 2017 the warranty would run out in 6 months and I'd be in the same boat!
I found this video below where a guy test drives a 2016 and plays with the paddles a bit. You can see how fast the tranny responds. It is quite responsive. I can't understand why people complain so much about the 7 speed. Surely the 9 speed can't be much faster with the shifting

No, the 9 speed is not really faster or anything, it's just more gears so the lower gears are shorter, that's about it. You may get a bit better MPG due to having higher gear on the highway too, but that's about it. If all you care about is Mercedes, engine, quick shifts and you're not looking to buy a new C43 then yea the C450 is pretty much the same and 25% cheaper.
When I was shopping for a C43, I test drove a couple used C450 and decided on a C43 due to the reasons I mentioned in my other post above, but if those things don't matter to you then C450 all the way!

Please do not listen to people that has only driven a c43 and never a c450. I have a 2016 c450 and my brother has 2017 c43 which i have driven xxx miles in.
Here are some answers you seek..
The 4matic ratios people are talking about cant even be felt.
The exhaust on the c43 is ONLY better if you have the performance exhaust,. If you have a c43 without the PE the stock on the c450 is both louder and pops much more. A simple resonator delete on the c450 is exactly as loud if not louder then a stock c43 with PE. I have tried this with a db meter on my and my brothers car ( he has pe)
The 7 speed vs the 9 speed. Both me and my brother both say there are pros and cons to them both but we give the edge to the 7speed only because while driving slow speeds with the 9 speed the transmission is going through so many gears compared to the 7speed. I find both transmissions fast...
Acceleration wise we did a test both stock rolling and from a dig. From 0-30 he was barely a hood infront of me and by the time we was at 60 mph our cars were pretty much side by side. The c43 clocked at 4.698 and my c450 at 4.733.
From a roll though the c450 was about a car faster when we reached 130 mph. I think the longer gears in the 7 speed has a bit of advantage from a roll but i was surprised at the small difference from a dig.
Now when we both are tuned with the same tune (ec) our cars are basically the same as stock difference but faster.
at the 1/4 mile im about 0.2 sec faster
And as for the looks on the outside only the badging is different and on the inside its the steering wheel which i rebuilt to a amg steering wheel by myself for about 120$
so if you find a c450 and a c43 with the stock exhaust on both and the price difference is 2000$ or more id go for the c450 everyday and so would my brother the only reason i would pay more is because its a 2017. If you find a c43 with the performance exhaust then you can stretch it to 3000$ not a penny more because then you could just by an aftermarket one on the c450
If you got more questions just holla 😎
