I was looking at a BMW 440i before I bought my Polar White C43 coupe. I loved the exterior design of the BMW, just classic. The interior was OK but it hasn't changed much from previous model years. I test drove the 440i and the ride is not as stiff as the C43 (in Comfort Mode). The power is about the same even if the 440i makes 330hp. I couldn't find a 440i XDrive to test drive here in Houston because XDrive is not needed for weather conditions down here.
Make sure you compare both cars with the same set of features. The price will almost be the same. BMW has an M-Sport package, Technology package, Lighting package and Driver's Assistance package. I believe the 19-inch wheels is a stand-alone option. Note that in the coupe version, the 440i seats 2 adults comfortably in the back. Headroom in the back is limited on the C43.
For the performance exhaust, BMW just came out with a 340i / 440i (B58) BMW M-Performance Power and Sound Kit (MPPSK) - http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1304356. The increase in HP and torque with the MPPSK puts it at par with the C43. You probably won't find a car with MPPSK on dealer lots so it'll have to be an add-on. Check out this sound video of the MPPSK -
.
You might consider a 340i which is cheaper and there's not much difference from a 440i (unless you want a Gran Coupe). Here's a comparison between the 3-series and 4-series -
I had a similar experience with the BMW 440i gran coupe sedan. Can't say the ride was better than the C43. Like the interior so much better than the BMW plus you have a very hard time getting the color your u want with the "M" package. C43isMeE
I also cross shopped the BMW. I was dead set on the BMW until I drove it. It wasn't as sharp in the corners as the Merc and of course the interior is much better in the Merc.
Add the PE, and a few other niceties that you either can't get on the BMW, or ended up making the cost higher than the Merc and the C43 was for me.
Does anyone know how much it costs per mile for overage on a C43 lease?
From mbusa.com
"At lease end, lessee pays for any amounts due under the lease, any official fees and taxes related to the scheduled termination, excess wear and use plus $0.25/mile over 30,000 miles"
Thanks everyone! I was looking at the cars again today. They are discount the ones on the lot close to 10 to 15%. Whats everyone's experience with ordering one. What is the discount then? if any.
2014 CLA250, 2017 C43 Sedan(Arriving in March/April)
I got 4% off on my order. My sales guy was pretty honest with me and said that he could do better on something on the lot but with an order that was the best he could do.
It's the end of the year and they are really determined to move the cars they have off the lot, I was tempted to get something from their inventory but the ones they have left just didn't have what I was looking for (selenite, cranberry leather, performance exhaust, and open pore ash). I've noticed that all the dealers are overstocked on cars with piano black trim, so if you can live with somehow keeping that clean and smudge-less, you should go for it.
GEICO $900/yr
$100/300
$500 deductible for collision and comp
Had been with USAA for many years but they wanted about double for the same coverage so went with GEICO.
Car insurance is a commodity so price matters.
USAA has been way more expensive in Texas than Geico or Progressive for years, I left them a long time ago and check periodically to make sure I'm still saving.
I've got a C63S and paying ~$1400/yr for 100/1000 comp/coll and 500/500 liability with Geico.

If you can get a car that has a good amount of options (maybe missing a couple that you want but don't need) then I would personally jump on a 15% discount in a heartbeat. 15% of a heartbeat actually
It's year-end.. 10-15% isn't unheard of for 2016s. Tomorrow is 2017, those 2016s will drop in market value immediately. I picked up my 2015 C63S in late January for 13k off MSRP.
Granted, 2017 is the model year.. but simply having them on the lot means it's not helping their quota.
Be careful to separate dealer from MB rebates. The dealer won't do 10-15% on a C Class as it would be below cost to them. Get all th MB rebates and then shoot for up to 6-7% at the most. I was happy at 6% plus the manufacturer rebates.

I got 10% off on a 2017 C43 order, before any incentives/rebates. You just need to cast a wide net. Not only that, after I got the first offer I got 3 other dealerships to match it.

Car is set to be delivered end of Feb...
Must be a USA vs. Canada thing. I actually sought out and bought a couple provinces away to maximize the savings, and had my friend arrange freight as he is in that business. The local dealer couldn't really match as they didn't have good inventory. I did do much better on my E back in 2011, but people up here generally have a hard time going much past 5% (On C class and lower).
Man the ride feel much rougher since my test drive, I keep it in comfort. Will changing the tire make a differ? Or is it just diminishing returns on 19s?

Car looks awesome! I could be partial!
The 19's are pretty firm as they are also run flats (which generally are more harsh / firmer sidewalls) And of course less profile than the 18's have to cushion the ride.

If you are running on run-flats, switching them out for Michelin Pilot Super Sport non-run flats will make a huge difference. I have switched out the factory run-flats on every performance car I have ever bought for the michelin PSS; its night and day.... as well, bonus is you can simply plug and patch the tire when you hit a nail or screw, and not have to replace a run-flat tire at $300+

i am on non run flats for winter. I am curious do you carry a lot of any kind in case of a flat?

I do not, and I have had 3 screws/nails in the past year or so ... two in corvette ( running non-run flat Michelin PSS's ) and one in my FX50S, also running non-run flats .... all three times the tire monitor system let me know and gave me plenty of time to get to my preferred tire shop for a quick plug and patch ... If I was not so fortunate and had a complete flat, that is what road side assistants is for.
Besides the harsh ride of run-flats, and especially on high performance vehicles with larger/wider tires, the major downside I find is after getting a flat due to a nail/screw etc, good luck finding your tires brand, model, and size in that particular run flat in a tire shop close by.. if your in a smaller town, away from home and/or its late in the day, you get the " we cant get one in until tomorrow" ... Its happened to me and its a pain. At least with non-run flats you got options and 9 out of 10 times it can be plugged and patched in minutes.
But in reality, I prefer non-run flats because they are much softer, heat up and stick quicker/better, and are so much better in the rain ... and as a bonus cost less
Nice C43 and best wishes. I find the run flat tires the car came with just fine for my driving as I rarely find myself on rough roads. Prefer the performance and the grip.
2017 C43 Sedan and 2018 E300 Sedan. 2015 S550 gone.
Agreed
