Downpipes increase the performance of all modifications from the intake back. Without downpipes freeing up your exhaust system you are essentially stifling any other modifications that you may have done pre-downpipe. The stock pipes act as a bottle neck for your cars true performance and in most cases you can see way more than 10WHP on the dyno with the right tune and supporting mods.

Without eliminating the weak links, you cant expect real power gains.
