C43 Steering extremely light?

For those concerned about the AMG or M brands being diluted, I'd be more worried about those badges being slapped onto heavy and bulky Crossovers and SUVs than on coupes and sedans.... regardless of what engines are powering them.

I don't know about you guys, I just wanted a C300 with more pep in its step. I know that by marketing the C43 as an AMG, Mercedes is bringing in a lot of people such as myself who otherwise wouldn't have considered a 63 due to price, or simply because they never thought about it.
Either way, this is a great way for Mercedes to grow the brand and many 43 owners who has been introduced to AMG will likely become 63 owners down the road, let's be nice to each other, yes?

I don't understand why some members have to attack or make insinuating comments over a decision that a company made to make more money. Since when did that become a bad thing? It is a business at the end of the day. The badge should never determine your happiness, that's what the car is for.
I wholeheartedly agree that the 43 line does not fit the definition of AMG, but I'll be damned if someone says it isn't a well built machine. Some you act like the 43 line is automatically inferior because the engine is touched by multiple hands as opposed to one. What a pathetic way of thinking. We should all be happy that MB is making more money (or trying to). That will allow them to continue building badass cars, which we get to enjoy.

LOL there are people out there who bought $30,000 W204 C63 AMGs who still want to tell others the $60,000 C43 AMG is not the real thing.
Perhaps not on this thread, perhaps not in this sub-forum. But they're out there.

I don't think you understand what the word "attacked" means. Someone slap you across your computer screen or something?

I registered my lowly C450 in the AMG Private Lounge on Tuesday. So apparently AMG believes my car is a real AMG. Funny thing is, I didn't know or care anything about AMG before we bought it. All I knew at the time was that it was a better ride than the 435, 340, C300 Coupe, and S4 that we test drove. Time will tell if it's a better value.

Is that what I said? Please go back and re-read my first sentence. You were arguing for the sake of arguing? You must be fun at parties. Not everyone's idea of fun is to give others headaches for the sake of headaches

Attack was first thrown out by tej. Sean was the one who decided to make it a personal attack about me not knowing cars. I know this is a car forum and was not offended by it at all. However I was making a point that I never made personal attacks.

It isn't for the sake of giving people headaches. These are forums that we all chose to log into. No one holds a gun to our heads. Discussions and arguments happen here. There seem to be so many delicate flowers here...

Can we all just let this crap go and agree that Mercedes-Benz produces fantastic cars?
I'm a glass half full kinda guy, so lets look the bright side.
We're all arguing over pointless crap on a Benz forum. At least we're not on a *****ty Honda forum, am-I-right?!

If you want to feel some light *** steering, drive an is300. The system feels like it is on rails. The c63 is almost too stiff for me. The is300 is a fun change of pace.

The light steering is something I noticed on the C43 during test drives, my CLA250s steering was considerably heavier, especially at low speeds. But the C43's steering feels a little more precise than the cla's.

I'm just new to Mercedes, but have been a long time multi Porsche owner and after reading this thread...... Man there sure is lots of insecurities on full display by both camps on this non-issue of what an AMG is perceived to be.
No matter what you think on the issue, it is the manufacturer who determines what is an AMG, not the end buyer.

I test drove a friends brand new BMW 340i xdrive yesterday.. I'm so glad I got the c43.. the ride in the 340i xdrive was a lot harder and didn't feel as planted even though it was so stiff.. the steering felt numb.. and the interior looked like it came from the 90's.. the acceleration was almost as good as my c43 but the sound was no comparison to the c43.. next week I'll let him drive my car to see what he should have bought

To try to bring this thread back on its tracks, I have a loaner C43 while mine is in for service. The steering in the loaner feels much tighter and weightier than mine does. It's very odd that there could be this much variation between identical cars. I wonder if this is something that can be calibrated?

I'd definitely mention it and even show what you mean to your service manager. If it's as noticeable as you say it is, they should be able to fix the issue.
There is a chance it's a placebo effect though. So don't rule that out completely. Get a second opinion if the service manager says he doesn't feel any difference.

Also ignorant people make for terrible drivers. As unrealistic as it may be, I wish I could take guys like you around a track. Would be pretty funny to see how much dust you can eat driving that "true amg" of yours.

If you are from USA, I would bet good money that you voted from Trump. You say something totally offensive for no good reason and then throw in the towel saying we are all delicate flowers.

Everyone else defending the other point of view throws assumptions and insults. Without knowing anything about me or my past, they and you in fact, want to project their beliefs that I am interior somehow.
Who's worse at that point?
