How to be as rambunctious as possible in your C450

Thought I would give some pointers in getting the most sound out of your car. This car sounds amazing but shows its refinement and cabin isolation off well.

So, first thing I'd recommend is putting the rear seats down for those spirited drives or canyon carving sprees. You can hear everything more audibly. You can hear the turbos RUSHING air when WOT. (I have removed the fins in the airboxes, but don't think they add much - but this may have given me some more noise - I only mention it because it is a variable).

Another thing you can do is put in Sport+ and Manual and when you're at 4k RPM's downshift and LIGHTLY tap (when I say lightly, I mean like barely anything) the throttle and you will hear the gunshots go off. If you miss the 4k downshift then your next best bet is ~2400 RPM downshifts for a nice ruffle in your feathers type of noise.

This car really has a wonderful melody through the RPM's. Anyways, thought this would be fun. What tricks have you found to enjoy your car more?

Mine's a C43 and it comes with AMG Package. I usually go downtown to enjoy my car because of all the tall buildings there, the sound echoes a lot and feels way louder. I found that shifting around 4.5k rpm gives the loudest brap/ crack on upshifts. I would change two gears which takes me up to 70kmph ish and then release the gas. And then downshift at 4k for both the gears, this gives out a cowboy whip type of sound for each downshift, while slowing the car down without braking. And then repeat.

Also I have also tried the same thing you are talking about. Like pressing the gas pedal a little bit to take the rpm to 4k and then releasing it. The exhaust starts making burble sounds, this is loudest in the 2nd gear.

For receiving the most sound, I don't drop the rear seats down, cause I find a closed trunk actually amplifies the noise instead of increasing it. I just pull the middle cup holder down. Drop all the four glasses halfway, so not to be too conspicuous. My windows are tinted and I do not like the stares haha, so it hides my head. Open the sunroof. Wala!

If you really wanna get crazy, I suggest removing the cats. Easily doubles the noise and "gunshots"

There is only 1 cat (well 1 for each bank).

And yes it will throw a CEL unless you have a tune that is designed for such a modification.

The airport!
I like to take a good, spirited ride through mine. I lower the windows, open the roof and keep the RPMs over 3500.
Stay off the Expressway and cruise through the outer perimeter instead. Start near 150th Ave. Speeding past the cargo terminals, the controlled backfires echo between the concrete walls. Hard left towards the rental cars then increasing radius loop. Roundabout under the Expressway and hard right towards the Airtrain. Hard on the brakes, sharp left under the tracks and gas gas gas! Don't lift at the chicaine towards the YOUR SPEED radar sign. This sign reads "slow down" if you didn't lift. Slow down before the bend, the fuzz is usually by the employee parking lot.

I love cruising downtown between all the tall buildings (for echo/noise enhancement purposes) and playing with the exhaust. Sometimes the "backfires" are ridiculous! I've made more than a few people jump. It's either they: Make a dumb face, laugh, or yell at me all pissed off.

It's kinda douchey, sure, but I enjoy it
