2017 C43
* Additional lease protection options. Any recommendations? *

Hey, guys and gals. I just leased a 2017 C43 and the dealership offered me a variety of options/protection plans that I can add into my 36-month lease, and I'd love to get some feedback on which ones are worth it and which ones aren't.

This is the first time I've leased a vehicle, and I've read about how dealerships can hit you with a nice bill if everything isn't in great condition or if the car doesn't have the same OEM parts at the end-of-lease inspection. I'll list details on the options I'm most interested in. Also, anyone familiar with these plans, feel free to leave suggestions on other protection plans I did not list. Thanks in advance!

1.) MB Prepaid Maintenance -- $15.55 per month
Premier 30k NPPMS-3YR - 30k mile Prepaid maintenance package
Term: 36/30000 Deductible: $0
- Standard maintenance intervals
- Honored fully at all participating MB dealers

2.) MB First Class Wheel & Tire -- $43 per month
- Replacement of wheels and tires due to covered road hazard
- Wheel repair for most scrapes and scratches
- Unlimited claims

3.) MB First Class Windshield Protection -- $30.19 per month
Term: 36
- Replacement of a front windshield due to road debris
- Original MB replacement glass

#3 is dumb. Just use your insurance if you get a rock chip.

Wow is that the typical cost of the wheel and tire protection, or is that a figured given independently by the dealership? Seems like a lot per month.

Also the prepaid maintenance covers only the oil changes?

To the OP or anyone else for that matter, #3 is not worth it as you can go through the insurance IMO

I only went with the maintenance on my lease.

For #3 - I can have my insurance cover it.

the wheels & tires is a tricky one now hearing so many ppl on here have broken wheels and ruined tires due to potholes.

The maintenance deal usually provides a slight discount than if you purchased all the scheduled maintenance from the dealer.

The wheel and tire insurance is usually contracted to a third party and the cost will vary by dealer. The custom seems a bit high, but I have wrecked multiple wheels in one year because the potholes where I live are horrible. I would look at your past experience with wheel and tire damage to determine if this makes sense. As with all insurance, you are usually paying a premium to cover worst case scenario. It is worth looking at the fine print to ensure that all wheels and tires are covered (think winter setup or aftermarket wheels) and that you covered no matter who replace the tires or wheels in case something happens when you are traveling and away from the dealer.
