Tail Light Tint Opinions

I personally love the dark cherry look of tinted tail lights and was wondering what other board members thought about tinting the tail lights, its seems like an easy process and cost effective as well.

I spoke to the sales rep and he told me there is no difference in light output with the regular tinted color as compared to factory light output. My intent is just to take the bright red edge off of the tail lights for something more subtle.

Any thoughts on this?

the oem tail lights have a slight tint to them. i would not go much darker. there have been a few members who posted their cars with tinted tails and they looked horrible. the mercedes light design looks sick so not sure why they would want to black it out.

if you absolutely must have it, do not go much darker than they are now.

I'm not a fan of tinted tails but lamin-x is a good product that I have used before. It's very difficult to install despite hearing otherwise on the internet and from the company themselves.

To get 0 bubbles and for it to line up perfectly is no easy task. I did my headlights in tint and yellow for temporary fun.

Yea, I've been kicking around the idea and haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I have not seen to many or any yet with really dark tails- If I where to do it I would only do the very first level called simply "Tint"

That is good to know.

Did you use universal or Pre- cut tint?

if you are going to buy it, get the tint color or gunsmoke.

Precut was available so that's what I used.

I would also say that I am a fairly competent DIY'r and still struggled getting them on and they still were not perfect for my OCD.
