Yeah, I think it is. What's important is that it was achieved by putting the turbos and not just a flash. It means we can see better gains with the tune. Interesting if 2019 C43 can get to 500hp with the tune…

I believe they put the E43 turbos on the C43.. they are 1.1 bar turbos (16psi).. I wonder if looking at what tuners have been doing with the E43 can give some insight?

Does anyone know how many bar turbos are on the current c43? The press release on the 2019 says the turbos are a max of 1.1 bar (16psi)? I can’t find any info on the current turbos

its different, but I am still very happy with mine. not sure if i like the quad exhaust. looks wierd. i think i like the old ils head lights better. i can take or leave the facelift looks. if turbos are bigger thats the only thing id care about.

I agree. It looks sharper. And a power upgrade, too. This is great news.

Here is Jalopnik's take:

They likened it to a 2008 Audi S4... I don't really get the comparison but whatever.

The new circular airbag is an improvement IMO, always loved the flat bottom in my 2013 Audi S4 with the circular center.
Surprised it got bigger turbos without getting the entire e43 drivetrain (which includes different internal components as well as larger turbos).

Shmee has the most punchable face, but excellent taste in cars. His LeMans blue FF was my favorite.
I really still like the current exterior better, but the new steering wheel looks perfect.
Alexasa you caught me sleeping, I was thinking they were comparing to the last v8 s4. I still don't get the comparison though. He's describing a facelifted car as if this is a new concept for MB. The author has a penchant clickbait headlines that mean nothing. "AMG VS BMW WHEELS, which is better?", "Will the new Supra be a failure?", "Was Elons space roadster good or stupid?". Hmm, in intrigued by your quandary, CLICK.

The rear looks so much better, I'd actually consider getting the sedan now. Front looks worse though, reminds me of a run-of-the-mill E-class. Slightly bummed about the power upgrade but at least it looks like torque is the same. New steering wheel looks nice too.

But I agree, he knows his stuff and produces very educational videos.

I seriously doubt there is any mechanical difference between the 362hp 2016-2018 and the 390hp 2019 models.
If you look at the specs the 390hp is achieved at 6100rpm where as the current gen's 362hp is achieved around 5500rpm
Also when they introduced the 45amg line at 355hp and then updated it to 375hp 2 years later, they both still achieve the same numbers after tuned. Which means it was only a boost to being with anyways.
