Which would you rather have 500/600 or 600/500 rwhp/lbs

I’ve noticed the mustang is low in torque compared to a lot of cars I forget my friends exact numbers but I think it was about 440/400

So it got me to think which do you guys think would be quicker having 500rwhp/600lbs or 600/500?

I'd rather have 600whp and 500wtq than 500whp and 600wtq. The car with higher HP is going to be faster.

very loosely take this but hp makes a car fast, torque makes a car accelerate and fun . but torque off the line is a good thing. They kind of go hand in hand.

600/500 would be preferred. our tuned 430/500 is no slouch though. It comes to a point of hp where, its very easy to go to jail. Our cars in my opinion are at that entry level can get you to jail real quick lol. with the tune i am sure its bad lol.

the difference between 400hp and 800hp on normal streets is less than youd think. its the law of diminishing returns. not sayng they still wouldnt pull but 400hp can get you to 120mph no problem and the minute you start going faster the more HP will help to push even further.

You can accomplish the same thing with either of the scenarios with the proper gearing. I remember back in the day Motor Trend would add both figures (HP and TQ)to compare engines for that particular reason. You see some diesel trucks putting up some impressive times because of it. Even though their HP is much lower than their tq they are geared to take advantage of their insane tq. Think of it this way, (simple term) HP is the speed the crank can spin. TQ is the amount of force it can turn while it spins.

The only way to really have torque higher rated than HP is forced induction.

In this scenario, unless the car weighs 4,000+ pounds with a wide rear section tire, that amount of torque is unwieldy and usually comes on early and drops off as the RPM's climb. The 600hp/500tq figure would mean a more steady climb in power meaning it is likely more controllable and faster anyways, due to the higher HP numbers.

The higher torque car, in this hypothetical situation, might feel faster, regardless of any of that.

500/600, if possible. Most people aren’t ever going to use the extra 100 hp to kick the top speed up, but you will feel the increased torque daily.

600hp,500trq

I think the extra 100trq would be less usable than the extra 100hp
