Engine Cold, Still Crank It?
You want to make sure warm oil has made its way to all the critical parts. Warm-up doesn't take too long on this platform; especially with respect to the oil temperature.
Best way to warm up the car quickly is by driving it. Don't let it sit around an idle. Manual backs that up as well. Hope that helps.
Of course you wait for the oil to warm up. What kind of question is this? Warmer fluids flow more freely, which helps accommodate higher revs. Which is why you wait for the oils to warm up.
For me the car performs horribly when cold. IE bucking delayed performance sloppy shifts
Be patient and love the car, and the car will love you back, literally.

The primitive system (spring wastegate, no intercooler, water injection also on a spring to control detonation, and only engine oil cooled the turbo bearings) had a sticker on the window. It said
"No Boost until Warm".
"Allow 30 seconds before shutting off engine".
I'm not nearly as absolute with a modern turbo car, but the concepts remain. Let all the parts get happy before you hammer it. Let it sit and the turbos spin down before killing the ignition.
Of course, it doesn't hurt to take extra precautions!
