Ride Comfort S3 vs. C43

I currently own a Audi S3 with 19" wheels, I have a 2019 C43 on order to be delivered in early November. Was wondering if anyone has driven or owned both that can compare the two in terms of ride comfort. I know the C43 has a stiff ride, but wanted a direct comparison to my current car. I'm debating going with a GLC 43. Thanks in advance.

I test drove an S4, I don't remember if it had run flats or not but it was a LOT softer ride than my 19" RFT C43. I am going to buy a new set of non-RFT this weekend so I can update you on the difference.

If you are set on a Merc, I highly highly recommend you get the 18" wheels with winter tires (if you live in snowband) and buy your own 19" summers. Otherwise, GET THE WHEEL AND TIRE WARRANTY PACKAGE!!!

Jon-I think the S4 has a lot softer suspension than the S3. The Magride suspension on the S3 is horrible.

Unfortunately I ordered the car with 19" summer tires, I can't make any changes at this point. I plan to switch out the RFT early next year. I live in the Boston area, so I will be putting winter wheels/tires on basically right after I take delivery. The tire and wheel warranty only covers the stock wheels and tires correct?

Oh I see, I am not an Audi guy sorry! But yes, the warranty only covers OEM. MB makes some crappy wheels unless you get the fully forged ones and my rims have been bent only a couple thousand miles in. I have many horror stories to tell. One day, I will buy a good set of HRE's and slap on some MS4S.

This is something I can definitely help with.

I own a 2018 C43 with 19" (now has some 20s installed) and took care of my firend's S3 for over 6 months when he was on deployment. The C43 is stiffer than the S3 but it's not the main difference here. The transmission (DCT) is a lot less harsh/jerky in the audi but also not as quick and satisfiying as the C43. Get rid of the run-flat tires and the ride quality will be similar to the S3. What you don't get in the S3 though is a smooth power distribution and throttle response (2.0T vs V6 biturbo). In my opinion the C43 is much more enjoyable, even in day to day driving.

Thank you, your experience with both cars is exactly what I was looking for. My overall concern was the harsh ride for my wife. She complains about the stiffness of the S3. The S3 suspension is also very bouncy and I think that makes her feel like shes getting thrown around. Common complaint among S3 owners.

I plan to swap out the RFT as soon as possible.

I have a 2017 C43 Coupe with 18” wheels (and OEM M+S run flats) and in Comfort mode the ride is very comfortable. I feel bumps more than my Acura TSX, for instance, but never uncomfortable. In Sport or Sport+ it gets tighter but that’s the beauty of it - its comfortable when you want it to be. If you’re worried about the rough ride you should definitely stick with the 18” wheels from what I understand. And then go with non-runflats if you need too. Go test drive one with 18” wheels.
