2019 C 43 coupe Canada - "Released to Carrier"

Hey guys,

Was just at the dealer this AM. He checked the system and he mentioned the internal system shows "Released to Carrier." I wasnt sure what the details of that meant, but thought Id ask here to see if anyone knows or has experience with this in the past?

Thanks

Car has been released to the shipping company either car carrier tractor -trailer, rail car, or combo of both. Rail is slow and you don't get any feedback on status. Once it's on a truck, it will usually deliver to your dealer in a < 1 week.

Thanks man. Appreciate it. My SA did request it to be transported by truck instead of rail for it to get here quicker but let’s wait and see. The system shows dealer delivery Oct 7, but not sure how accurate it is. Weirdly, he said one system still says car is on hold while the internal system showed released to carrier. So, trying to tempter my expectations for now.

Your SA has zero say in how the vehicle gets transported if it's a factory order. The only time they do have any sway is when they trade another dealership to get you a specific config.
When we ordered our C450 is went transcontinental rail with multiple stops and delays and took nearly 3 weeks to get to the VPC. When we ordered our GLC 43 is shipped via container vessel direct to the US West coast VPC near Long Beach CA. After it arrived in the VPC it was released to carrier about 2 days later. The carrier dropped it at the dealership in Oregon 4 days later. The dealer took a a day and a half to prep it and called us for evening pick up.

Kool, just expressing what my dealer had told me. I’ve not had an experience with factory ordering before and thus was here inquiring.

Sorry, I think that I came off the wrong way when I wrote that. What I was trying to imply there is that the dealer controls very little of this process.
Do you know which VPC your car shipped to?
If you've ever worked in logistics this should make sense: The car haulers run very similar to std LTL freight. So, in my case, direct from LA to Portland (FTL) is usually 2 days but LTL is usually 4-5. My car arrived 4 days after leaving Long Beach. Similarly to LTL, the driver is making multiple stops along the way and dropping cars as he goes.

I hear you. I’ve not had much experience with a preordered vehicle before. I am located in Toronto, Canada. Port is Halifax on the east coast of Canada. Appreciate your input though. Nice to hear others experiences with it all.

Too many
released to carrier = carrier has 3 days to pick car up and then delivery time depends on distance from pick up place and method of transportation.
