Winter Washing
With the first threat of snow here in the US Mid-Atlantic, I am wondering how best to wash salt from the undercarriage of my C43. The manual says an automatic car wash can trigger the hands-free trunk release - is there a way to turn it off? Any suggestions for undercarriage wash would be appreciated.

I use a black and decker snake wand (link below), warm/hot water hookup, Im lucky to have access to a heated garage with drainage but have no problems pulling the hose outside to give the cars a good wash in cold weather.

The biggest thing is to minimized actually touching the surface when it's full of contaminants (salt residue, dirt, etc). My closest touchless wash has a "dust buster" run mode that's basically just a high pressure spray followed by spot free rinse, including undercarriage spray. I'll do this to avoid the harsher touch free chemicals, but follow up with a "waterless wash" procedure while the car is still wet from the wash(Chemical Guys makes an acceptable waterless wash spray that I've noticed is available at Walmart now). While the car is still wet, spray on the waterless wash and wipe with a MF towel using a rolling contact motion.
