Unique dealer "tactic"....
A while ago we were at our MBZ dealer getting our GTS serviced. While killing time, I mentioned to a salesman that we would eventually be replacing my wife's M235 cabrio with a C43 cabrio. (no urgency, however) He suggested that we do a "build" sheet on a 2019 just to see the options and the numbers. I saw no harm as I do like to do my planning far in advance. Last night he texted me that he a C43 cabrio just arrive and that I should cruise in to see it. I asked him about the car's color, options, etc. and he emailed the official sheet to me. It was basically identical to what I had done with him!! He must have figured that as long as he was going to spec a car, he might as well spec one to match a potential buyer's choices. It's a gorgeous car (diamond white with cranberry leather), so he knows he won't get stuck with it. I'm sure he hopes that once we see it in person, we'll write the check. Not a bad tactic, actually.

Our local Chevy dealer finally got wise and asked our Corvette Club to spec incoming cars. We knew more about the cars than the salesmen and we knew what people wanted for the most part. The cars we speced didn't sit on the showroom floor very long.

That's amazing, the dealer needs help speccing a car they sell. Makes you wonder if they are qualified to fix them!
