Wireless Apple CarPlay

Greetings,

First time poster, and looking to get some insight.

I currently drive a BMW 4 series coupe and was considering a C43 for my next lease.

My biggest issue with the C43 is the lack of wireless CarPlay; I use this feature in my BMW everyday and for me it's a must-have with any future car.

I've confirmed with Mercedes Benz via Twitter chat that the 2020 C43 AMG will not have wireless CarPlay. My question is, what are the chances that the 2021 model year will have it? Also, what month do dealers get the new model year for the C43?

Thank you all.

You probably won't see that option available until the new W206 C-Classes come out. It likely requires the latest gen of MBUX and not just the refreshed one in the W205.5

As for the new models, that's been a crap shoot over the last few years with cars getting stuck in port after landing in NA. Could be September or could be December before we see the 2020's.

Wireless CarPlay is neat, but it has big cons also, the bandwidth is not as good as USB. If you want to show higher resolution CarPlay, and listen higher quality music, wireless isn't the way to go.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. Do you think the W-206 models will be available by August 2020? This is when my lease expires.

Thanks for your input. I’m going to have to disagree with you, I’ve been using CarPlay since it was released in 2014 on multiple cars, and the wireless version on BMW is flawless - there is zero lag and I cannot remember the last time it failed on me (if ever).

I concur! I have a 2018 BMW 440i Coupe with wireless CarPlay. and it works flawlessly. Not having to plug in your iPhone when you get into your car is a HUGE convenience. I hope Mercedes-Benz begins to support wireless CarPlay soon because I'm considering a 2020 GLC Coupe.

did they happen to mention what differences, updates, features, etc will be added or changed with the 2020 C43?

Hey, here's the response:

The C-Class 43 will still be the same generation as the facelift released in the Fall of 2018, therefore it won't come with the MBUX infotainment either. It is possible that the new generation in 2021 will be equipped with it already, so we recommend contacting a dealership when the time comes.
