Things to look out for during lease return
I am thinking about returning the car end of its lease. Which is still quite far away. But just for general knowledge. What are the things that I need to be worried about? What kind of damages do they want fixed and what will they overlook? I should mention I do not have lease protection.
In general I have always took very good care of the car in general. In my personal assessment, I can see some rock chips on the front bumper, none bigger than than 1 to 2mm in size. Door Storage area plastic panels have a few minor scuffs. And I can see a very small chip on the central trackpad glass. I will refinish all the OEM rims as well. Also I never used the **** OEM tires, so they are in new condition.

My lease was only 2 years, and though I had only a scratched rim and cracked windshield noted, I was surprised how little they cared about the interior. They overlooked 2 huge scratches inside which bothered me tremendously. I thought for sure I would be charged...
Oh and by the way, they charged me less for a new windshield than other local shops had quoted me for a non genuine aftermarket windshield. That was a pleasant surprise.

MB has a lease return kit, you can probably call MB financial, assuming that's who your lease is with, and ask them to send you the kit. It lists everything and includes a plastic gauge used to measure dings etc.

in my area - all of US? They use a third party inspection that you can schedule ahead of time - potentially fix anything deemed wrong.
Generally speaking - they seem very forgiving - my car was in great shape inside but had plenty of roc chips and small dents.
tire wear is probably one of the main things they'll get you on if you turn in tires below the wear bars

no need for guessing , call the third party inspector , you can get info from mbfs and they will send inspector and will give you detailed report, It can be done 3 months in advance and in report it mentions if things needs to be done
they will also do a mini inspection at actual lease return to make sure nothing has changed

This has all the info you need.
Most important part: if the damage can be covered by a credit card, you won't be charged (there are exceptions as detailed in the pdf)
