What's an acceptable Front:Rear % difference in diameter

For our AWD C43, what's an acceptable % difference in rolling diameter between front and rear axles?

2% or less maybe?

Yes, the closest you can get to overall diameter is best. with today's sensors that 2% or less is good IMO. Going significantly heavier though while keeping same rotational mass may not be good. I believe the stock wheels are cast plus run flats, these wheel/tire combos are probably 50+ lbs at each corner easy.

would really try to stay under 1% difference front and rear and less than 2.5% over stock (3% is usually advisable as fine but i have seen that the fenders are tight on the front axle on the front splash guards)

For your reference, the 18" wheels came with 225/45/18's front and 245/40/18's rear. That's a -1.2% circum difference.

19" wheels came with 225/40 & 255/35 and that's a -0.4% difference.

Seems factory went with slightly taller tires in the front. Just a coincident or design requirement? dunno...

I went with 225/40/19 & 265/35/19 and that a +0.8%.

So far, only only around 2000km, no issues.

I ordered mine with the stock 18s as I have an extra set of 19s I kept from my previous W204 C63. Need to see the sizes but I think it will be similar to what you described I think they're 235/265.

I’m thinking of doing 235/275 in 20”, 0% variation between front and rear. Just worried it’d give the car even more understeer than it already has (a lot of).

it certainly will - although i believe negligible and maybe imperceptible in daily driving - you'll need a wider front section to combat understeer. but the upsize and better compound may neutralize this out better than anticipated

Yes I have been hoping that it will work out that way. Let’s see. Still hunting for something suitable. What’s the narrowest practical rim width for a 275?

9 inch is within spec but 275 looks perfect on a 9.5
