Yay!!!! I got a phone call from my sales guy on Friday to let me know that car is finally on the ship. It's been a long wait!
Thank you so much for posting the ship name!

Guys, I have no idea if C43 has already been released or not...but it seems that I'm going to pick up mine C43 Coupe built in August (so I guess MY2020) in about 2 hours (in Switzerland).

I have zero updates on my MY20 sedan. I placed the official order July 20th and deposit was taken on the 22nd. The GSM mentioned to me on average, it takes about 3 months or so. While I am technically under the 3 months guideline, that mark will be in a couple of weeks. the dealer does have non-AMG C MY20 C class vehicles on the lot already so I'm sure the factory pumps those out first as those sell the most, then re-tools the line to build the AMG badged vehicles, unless the Alabama plant has multiple assembly lines dedicated to C class. I don't know about that.

I did notice this Canadian dealership listed some 2020 C43's this weekend. Anyone seen any in the U.S. market yet?

BTW - anyone knows where I can check if it is really MY2020? So far I'm very happy, apart from jumping windscreen wipers... Any advice welcome!

Window sticker, sticker in drivers side door sill, registration should all show VIN# - 10th digit should read L if 2020, K for 2019

Hm, interesting, in my case 10th symbol (counting together with WDD at the beginning) is a digit, not letter, only 11th symbol is a letter, which is...F. I hope it doesn't mean that I got MY2014 (if I went backwards the alphabet correctly). There is no other letter in the VIN number, apart the first three and this one.

I assume that's only for USA cars? The rest of the world have a different format.

If this is the case, I would love to learn the format for the cars built for European market (Switzerland).

Wikipedia actually has pretty good information about the VIN, its history and the different formats.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicl...ication_number

My 2019 C63S Coupe actually has both a North American VIN and a EU chassis number (EU VIN) on the bill of sale. Not sure if all European built Mercs have that, but in my case it's specially because I did European Delivery. While the car was in Europe, it was under the European warranty, which is attached to the EU chassis number. Whenever I needed services or if I had an accident etc. I was supposed to provide the EU chassis number. They both start with WDD and the last 7 digits are the same, but digits 4-10 are completely different.

Anyone that ordered a car before June, when they changed the model year, I recommend to check with the dealer, that it's order has not been changed or similar as it's been moved to a 2020 Model Year. It happened to me, that mercedes system without notice changed the options, as each year there are equipment/packs changes. The dealer didn't the right follow-up and some equipment it's been "unselected", after the period for modifications it's finished.

Regards

I ordered a C43 sedan back in April of this year. It was built in July and waiting at the factory. My sales rep says he thinks it will be one of the first in the US once they’re officially released. I’ll keep you posted.

Yes, I've ordered in April and in the meantime there was a price increase of night package, but I was properly informed about it by the dealer.

Thanks, but since the car has been delivered in Europe, it doesn't have special field for model year, unless someone knows which digit of VDS or VIS it is.

Hey buco, did you get your car? All good? I’m still waiting but it looks like it’s imminent. What did you do for winter tires?

Picking it up today!!! Yay! It's been a long wait since March...

Hope you get yours soon too!

Winter tires: I am going with aftermarket 18 inch rims and Michelin Pilot Aplin PA4 tires (225 all 4 corners).

Nice! Definitely a long wait. Looks like mine is being delivered to the dealership today. Probably be a few more days wait I’d guess. Did you get tire pressure sensors from the dealership?

Strat89, are you in the US? I ordered my C43 sedan in April - it was built in July. I received word yesterday that it's now in "VPC Received" status. I was told at the beginning of October that they'd launch in early November, but still no official word on a US Launch date. Man, this wait, and not knowing any details, is killing me!

No, I’m in Canada. Ordered a wagon in early May. Originally had an estimated August delivery....that sure didn’t happen. I know there are 2020’s on the road here already. I’m not sure when the official launch was?

I'm in Canada as well and am convinced based on the stories I've read on here that many of the SA's simply just talk out there a** when it comes to people placing orders and their supposed delivery dates. I was told September, in July when I actually had bought what was supposed to be an in-stock model that was at another dealership and then they didn't secure it before it was sold. I got to then pick one from the build manifest in Germany being built in August, and was told it would be an early delivery as part of the demo shipments!

Mine is here so I will get it in a few days, but November is not September. They have released in Canada, the site is updated and Transport Canada has all the details. You just need to light a fire under your SA!

The dealerships have no control over the delivery schedule. It's at the factory's discretion when they build which car, and there can always be delays. They may run out of specific parts or have quality issues etc. that cause delays. Some options such as Magno paints for example are known to put the order at risk of being delayed. Not all paint shops do the Magno paints, so the body may have to be shipped to a different paint shop and then shipped back for final assembly, so there can be a bottleneck at times. Such is the nature of Just-in-time manufacturing. On top of that comes the certification process and official release of a new model year before the cars can be delivered to customers and legally driven on public roads. The government is not known to work particularly fast and efficient. I believe the 2020s were released mid to the end of October for Canada and beginning of November for USA. The cars are being delivered as we speak.
