Blown Tire

Hit a pothole yesterday and blew out the right front tire (Pirelli PZero Run Flat). I bought the car 15 months ago from a dealer and tires were new. They have around 6000 miles on them. Two questions: 1) It looks like the tire is out of warranty so I am out of luck with regard to Pirelli helping me out. Right? 2) If there is no more than 3/32" difference in tread depth for the front tires can I just replace the one or should I replace both front tires regardless?

Switch everything to a non-run flat tire. Stock size if you want all seasons I would go Continental DWS-06. Summers either Michelin PS4S or Firehawk Indy 500.

1. Yes
2. I'd just replace the one if I were keeping the rf tires.

Try and purchase the wheel and tire insurance. You're going to need it.

keep stockers for winter duty, get better looking summer wheels/tires. Both will last twice as long now.

If you only replace one tire i'd highly recommend getting it shaved down to match the same tread wear on the other front tire. Even if there is only a slight tread difference you could have some issues with your traction control, and also cause damage to your drive train.

If you are buying more than 1 tire i'd just got ahead and replace the rf's with regular tires.

Can you recommend someone who does shaving?

If you call Tire Rack they can send you a tire that is brand new and shaved to whatever you want. otherwise if you are trying to do it locally i'd just call around to tire shops

That sux OP! Make certain the wheel itself isn't bent or compromised.............I'd get rid of the runcraps and get regular tires......recommend PS4 from Michelin.....or ps3 if you can find them
Watch out for potholes!

They suck.

No I did not have warranty when I blew my tire out on highway

My car only has 20k on it and I have replaced 3 for blowout or nail in the tire.

They don't last ride like **** and honestly don't handle at all.

I would replace them asap, just remember tho u have to return the lease with the same tires

The tire insurance pays for itself. If you have low profile run flats it's a no brainer.

You can return a lease with different tires. The only time they will care if if you return them with super discount tires.

I have even returned a lease with my winter tires on. No issues and then sold the summer tires later.

Well this is excellent news

I had a few members tell me I had to return car with run flats.

Truth be told I still have 16 months left on my lease

When I returned my c400 they checked the tires looking for the moe (manufacturers original equipment) stamp on the side wall and made me pay for original run flats. Which makes sense on a resale...no spare..no jack....has to have run flats or No Safety Certification.
