2019 C43 steering assist hand on steering warning.
To all,
I just saw a US review of a 2019 C43 where the guy activated the steering assistant and for about 30seconds the car steered itself without giving the driver red flashing "hands on steering" icon.
I'm in Australia and also have the 2019 C43 but unlike this video, I constantly get "hands on steering" icon appearing after 10seconds of activating the steering assist. Just wondering what people (in different countries) are experiencing in their C43 regarding this warning. 10seconds seems pointless to me and I'm wondering if this is something i can get the dealership to reprogram and extend the time before the warning flashes. Or is it just a legality issue that's cant be change in Australia. Keen to hear people thoughts.

Yes, that's how it works in the USA. Also, in stop & go traffic the system stays ready for up to 30 seconds to automatically move off when traffic starts moving again. However, the extension to 30 seconds is only on divided roads such as highways and interstates. It's smart to know based on the navigation map what kind of road you are driving on, and as far as I know it also takes into account how busy the traffic is to relax the system more or less. I believe this is all part of Extended Restart in Stop & Go Traffic, option code K33. It's included in the Driver assistance package here in the USA.
