My car still does the random neutral thing despite reprogramming. Similar to yours. See video.
Dealer unable to fix.

Did you try a different dealership? Some dealership is just better than others in terms of their technician, services etc. in my experience.

There was an absolute master mechanic that initially worked on the trans issues. He has since been poached by a new electric car company.
The current tech seems able to get the trans info off the car. They are working on it with support in Germany. Keep you posted.

The dealer has been pretty good actually. It is not the same one as where I purchased. They were useless.

In the end, Merc corp makes all the decisions and tells the dealership what to do. We'll see.

I thought this would happen to me but it never did.. some times it would not start right away but it does even if it is 2 seconds.

Because I have never heard of this, I hope MB can help you.

After repeated visits, video of the situation and them replacing the torque converter (yes, the trans was pulled out), they have finally decided to replace the transmission on my C43.

I think there is an issue out there with these 9 speeds. Seems to be reported here and there in other models.

How has the replaced transmission been behaving? I have had several instances of the same issue on my 2021 GLC 43.

The replacement trans did the same thing. It’s a programming problem, not a mechanical issue best I can figure out. The 43 series are smaller production and there isn’t the desire to invest in a remedy in my humble opinion.

After 3+ years of dealing with it, they bought back the car. I loved the car other than the fact it wouldn’t go randomly!

I would report it to the NHTSA. About all you can do.

Hmmm, what did you end up getting as a replacement?

I guess install the latest TCU updates regardless, maybe perhaps they have a fix by now if not hopefully the new update at least mitigates the problem.

The replacement transmission is likely a reman, not sure in what type of process they go through to reman the transmission but what are the odds it also have the same hardware issue if it wasn't actually a software issue?

Went with the BMW m340i. Fantastic car. Definitely a little less harsh of a ride than the C43. Higher quality interior. Miss the C43 steering wheel, a few gauges and the burble exhaust pops in S+ mode.

The C43 trans issue I had was so crazy. They didn’t believe me that it could do what it did. Note when it happens, the gear displayed is blank. Just FYI. You’re in D but blank gear.

In the end I bugged the hell out of Merc corp and dealership. Started a legal path but they just bought it back. Car was resold and is on the road.

If you bought the one with the mild hybrid perhaps that explains why it has less exhaust noise. I guess there was only one model year of that bmw that didn't have mild hybrid.
