My stock 5-spoke wheels kept cracking. I love the way they look but I can't keep buying replacements for $600 a pop. PLUS they aren't necessarily easy to find.
So, I took the plunge into aftermarket wheels and as frugal as I am, I went to craigslist searching "5x112 and AMG wheels". Paid $400 for some beat up, chrome, kinda ugly Mandrus Wilhelms designed to fit an older SL. Got them refinished and powder coated. Went through some tire issues afterwards but nothing serious.
Here's some pics! Eventually I'd like to get a nice set of new wheels put on, but this will do until I hit a pothole lol.
Stock wheels. Loved the way they fit. First couple days with the 20's. Had a front tire leaking at the bead but I think it was just defective so I replaced it. Fitment looking kinda perfect.
There is absolutely no room for give in the front. The tire slightly rubs against the control arm under full lock, but not when driving. This 245/35r20 tire is DEFINITELY the biggest tire you can fit up front. I got VERY lucky with this and the offset of the front wheels. They clear the big AMG brakes by millimeters.

it does poke. i'll need to test the handling to see if they make a difference. the c450 was perfectly balanced handling wise from the factory and i would hate to spoil that
