Thanks, interesting. Actually heard most of this before, except the last part about AMG potentially doing away with the C63 coupes. That would also be a bummer

Wonder why coupes are not of interest to the big trends and why are people into the disproportioned SUV coupes. Solely on practicality?
The profit margin for the conventional coupes must be abysmal for car makers to completely x them

I read somewhere that MB and others are dropping coupes and cabs because it costs too much to refresh/redesign them relative to their limited demand, and they are instead putting the money into EV development. All apparently being driven by EU emissions standards...

Sounds great, but . . . when the battery runs dead then the electric motors stop. You are left with "only" the 4 cylinder power and torque. So really, the real world numbers are only the gas engine's numbers. Depends on how long it takes the engine to recharge the batteries. I think it's several hours of running time. So you have a big horsepower car for 40 miles or so. Sorry. I'll stay with old Otto's engine, thanks.

Keep your v6 / v8 for as long as they last because the trend cannot be more clear cut that EV will be the only way to go in the near future. More and more countries or states are already banning sales of new ICE cars by 2035. Car makers seem to be aggressively downsizing and phasing them out in the recent years.

But I think it's going to be one of those things where we are reluctant to change now but won't even look back to today when those days come. TBH, our kids won't even feel and know what we are talking about v6 v8 notes, roar, gear shifts...etc. Cars to them will likely be more software than anything else.
