Eurocharged won't unlock used Mygenius?

Eurocharged won't unlock used Mygenius?
So I bought a used Eurocharged Mygenius handheld tuner from a member off here, after researching and finding that the tuning company that sold the tuner (Eurocharged) can unlock the device so it can be reused. For a fee of course. But when I contacted Eurocharged about getting a tune and them unlocking the device, they said this.
"Hi there The handheld device vin locks to the initial car it was used on and cannot be unlocked.Let me know if you would still like to go ahead with the tune and handheld order Regards"
I was under the impression they can indeed unlock it, and I'd happily buy the tune and pay the unlocking fee. But I'd rather not pay $599+hst for thing that is basically one-time use. Again, from what I've read on the forums here, it is more than possible for them to do so, it seems like they just don't want to unlock it and they'd rather just sell a $599 addon

It's software ... they can unlock it (i.e., reset/reprogram the device to operate with a new VIN). Be sure you're asking the right question, so there's no confusion. I'd query "I have this [accurately/completely describe what you have, device and tune] and I want to use it with this [accurately/completely describe your vehicle] and I'd like to know how much it is to do that and what the process would be to make this happen."

what vehicle are you trying to tune and with the mention of hst I assume you are in Europe?

we don’t make the handhelds dimsport does. If the original handheld was not flashed stock it might not indeed be possible to have dimsport recover the device unfortunately. If the handheld was, the. Yes we can pay dimsport a fee to remove the device back to stock. They are indeed vin locked

I recently contacted Eurocharged to unlock my handheld that previously was locked to the VIN on my old CLS550 that I have since sold. I told them the purpose was so that I could resell the device on this forum. While on the phone with them, they gave me a "live" code to enter on the MyGenius that would reset it back to factory default. Just to be perfectly clear, I assume that if I were to sell this device, the new owner would NOT run into the same issue OP is having, correct @loungn14 ?

Curious if this helps my situation. I inadvertently cracked the screen on my handheld programmer when checking a code last year, the tune was provided by AMR Performance. I tried several times last year to contact them and replace the programmer and in hopes that I could download my original data and tune to the new hardware. Anybody know how I can get a new device (that can be read) without spending another arm and a leg?!

$400+ for a one-time use device is crazy
Landed here trying to find out if I can use my 2015 E550 Weistec tune on my 2016 E550. Come to find out not only is the tune locked but the tuner is too?? When I bought this thing for $400 I thought "well I'll own a bunch of Mercedes I can use this on."
Has anyone found a workaround? I'm essentially tuning the same car if I could only just apply the tune from my 2015 to the 2016. Anyone had any experience with Weistec on this?
