Downpipes before tune
Hi,
im getting my 2019 C43 tuned next Friday, unfortunately the tuner could only fit me in for the tune and not the tune and installation of downpipes.
Therefore, I just wondered whether the car would be driveable if I installed the downpipes prior to the tune? And whether it would cause any issues? I expect a CEL but would it also throw it into full limp mode?
it would only do around 20-30miles before it’s tuned but it will mostly be motorway driving.

You will be fine, especially with it only being a short drive. You are also unlikely to get a CEL within 20-30 miles. It is generally accepted that the c43 loses a bit of power when downpipes are installed without a stage 2 tune. I would not beat on the car prior to the tune, but that is just me.
FYI - I drove about 50 miles on my car between downpipes being installed and the stage 2 tune without an issue or CEL.

You didnt mention if they were catless or not. Depending on the tuner and your country you may be able to have them code out the rear sensors and not need the spacer.
I have had DP's and no tune (just JB4) for years without an issue. Fuel trims are good and i dont see any timing or boost drops on pulls.

Apologies they’re catless downpipes going on. I’m already getting a form of “soft” limp mode as I’ve recently put on the logos chargecooler so the car is now detecting an overboost due to the huge amount of air now going through the system to the turbos.
