C43 Dealer / Tire issue

Hello all, I got a C43 wagon on a lease for my wife, as a second car to my G63. I started leasing it as a dealer demo, it had roughly 7k miles on it. I got the car in winter. Per province law, i need to be running winter tires on the vehicle. As tire changing season approached I was informed that the rear tires were practically bald and the two front summers were at 6/10 condition. They only accepted to replace the rear tires with brand new ones. Today I noticed a massive gash on the side panel of my front right tire (see attached picture. I have been only driving with these summer tires for about a month. With all this being said, my salesman is blaming it on the roads and is saying that there’s nothing I can do and I have to replace two fronts now. Do I have grounds to complain and ask for them to replace it at their cost? Or is this totally on me. Thanks for your advice

I think a tire specialist would diagnose that as "road hazard" damage, not particularly unusual with low profile runflat tires.

I guess you could consider suing the city but I would get an alignment done if you notice tires are wearing unevenly. The 19s on the C 43 are susceptible to damage compared to 18s, especially the rim so I would store the OEMs and get aftermarkets instead and when you want to return the vehicle you could put the OEMs back on. Here is a thread on this https://mbworld.org/forums/c450-c43-...-cracking.html

Good point, I think certain manufacturers forgot if it was Continental or Pirelli that offers a 12 months road hazard warranty on all new tires. I remember reading this on a thread but not sure where that thread is let me have a look but OP depending on which brand you have try looking up your tire's site.

yea, as these are replacement sets, there should be some type of warranty on them. You can most likely google the warranty for the brand.
