Engine & Trans Mounts plus Engine cabling/chaining
I had my '17 in yesterday for trans and dif services at my local Indy MB shop. They found my engine mounts were pretty much shot. They had me sit in gear and blip the throttle under full brakes and the engine was hopping up 1.5in or so on the driver side. We're ordering a fresh set, plus trans mount, but we got to talking about cabling/chaining the motor to body to save some harsh wear & tear on the mounts. I'm their only C43 customer currently (there's probably <8-10 in Nebraska) so they've never had to think about cabling or chaining the M276 to limit flex from the frame under high power load. One of their techs has a heavily modded ML63 and they've cabled one side of the engine to prevent it from trying launch it's way out from under the hood!
Anyone with any extensive experience under the hood have any ideas I could pass along to the shop for cable attachment points on the engine?
Lastly, medium/higher mileage owners - check your engine mounts!

I have heard/known of several M276 W205's with motor mounts gone bad. Im fairly certain my driver one is on its way out as there is fluid leaking from it.
I wish we had a stronger aftermarket option for motor mounts.
From my research the 2015 has one part # and then 2016+ has a different part #. Not sure if there are differences or the interchangeability.
Have not heard anyone adding any cable/braces to the motor.

I don't have a C43, but I do have an E400 with the M276DELA30 3.0l TT V6. I just had both engine mounts and the trans mount replaced under ELW. That trip alone paid for my warranty.
The mounts probably wear out quicker for those of us who just can't seem to stay out of the max-boost fat part of the torque curve. . .

I just rolled 70,000mi for those wondering. The mount themselves are less than $200ea from what I’ve been able to find across all the various online service counters. Can’t imagine it’s a terribly complicated install.

-brake replacement at 20 000 kms
-manufacturer run flats last only15000 km
- engine mount failures
- quirky, shifty tranny
- cracking rims
Makes me ask myself?? Why do I like this car so much 😆

Engine mounts on any vehicle are a wear and tear item eventually, but even more so on torquey, high power platforms. It's a matter how long you own the car for it be your problem or the next owners. I don't think 70k miles is unreasonable for motor mounts to need replacing, especially when I'm boosted well above factory limits and drive the **** out of the car every single day it's driven. Alas, we digress...my point of this thread was not to be rag on the car or gather sympathy.

Of all the things you mentioned, run flats and cracking rims are the only real gripe I have with the car, all things considered. Even then, that's more of a brand/platform issue than a model specific issue. MB wheels are junk, across the board. The trans bunny hop is 100% a skill based issue in my opinion. You can train yourself out of that ever being an issue. Should you have to? That's another story.

What year is the ML? Do you know what engine mounts they're using? I'm looking for some upgraded ones for mine. My shop also recommended cable/chaining. Do you happen to maybe locate somewhere that makes a kit?
