2020 c43 with 22k miles. Needs brake job already?

Hey all

My 2020 c43 lighting up for brake service. I always drive with TCS off. No cruise control. Is that normal?

Update: Went to a trusted independent. They said fronts look good. Rear driver side worn but still good. Rear passenger worn much more. Anyone know why just 1 Rear side would be bad?

The indy shop should tell you why, but most times its due to a caliper or caliper pin sticking depending on the wear pattern.
if the rotors are still in spec then just change the pads and sensor and maintenance the caliper. Shop will probably want to replace whole axle pads and rotors though to prevent return customer.

Yeah they only measured the pads. The indy recommended i go to dealer first to see if there is any warranty that would cover an issue with caliper as he thought it was odd it was worn so quickly and heavily on one corner.

He just said i can't replace the pads without doing rotors.

I'll go to dealer and see what they sat.

Are you making mostly right turns? The rear brakes on these cars are used much more than in the old days. The electronic brakeforce distribution first applies the rear brakes to reduce the typical nose dive associated with braking. This keeps the car flatter during deceleration. Under light braking, the front brakes often don't even engage. In addition the rear brakes are used for torque vectoring. When you make a right turn the passenger side rear brake applies to induce an additional yaw moment and send more torque to the driver side wheel (LHD). The opposite happens when making a left turn. Now generally this happens more when cornering in a more spirited fashion, so it all comes down to your driving style. At the end of the day these are 4000 lbs cars, they eat tires and brakes. Turning off TCS really doesn't make much of a difference in an AWD vehicle, or are you spinning your tires frequently?

Sounds a little early, but not shocked. I just had my rear brakes and rotors replaced at just over 30K miles last month. I too was a little surprised, but prior to the C43 I had a 2015 C300 Sport, which needed rear brakes right around 35k miles.

Strongly suggest finding a trusted independent shop in your area or doing it yourself. My local shop did it for around $700.
