You want the workshop information system (WIS) or Xentry/WIS (same with diagnostic software). If you search the forums, you'll find ads for Xentry/WIS systems. Mr. Google can find you on-line access sign-up.
After a vehicle was 3 years old, Mercedes used to sell (originally a large pile o manuals, then) a DVD containing the WIS stuff for a given vehicle/model ... but, unfortunately, they've stopped doing that leaving us with 2 options: get a pirated/hacked copy of WIS or Xentry/WIS or pay a hefty fee for on-line access.
<getting on the soapbox, now>
We are in an age when the things we purchase are no longer _really totally_ ours ... because the manufacturers have usurped our ownership via software. This is true for most significant-cost items, these days (computers, phones, cars, farm and industrial machinery, etc.). For high/regular-maintenance items (cars, machinery, etc.) this is not right (IMO).
