Clear coat peel on pano roof
Hi All, just wondering if anyone else has seen clear coat peel on what I assume is a plastic piece between windshield and pano roof ? My car sits in sun winter an summer and it’s destroyed. Hoping I can remedy as I would for normal clear coat peel, but not sure it’s actually a plastic piece? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks

Yes, that piece is plastic. If your car sits in the sun all the time, then no wonder this is starting to peel. UV light is quite harmful. Your paint will be next. I have no experience with it though. My cars are garaged.

OP, you could have that portion wrapped in gloss black - which is likely cheaper than replacing the part.

They make gloss black PPF - this is what most companies will suggest using moving forward as the lifespan of a tradition vinyl is poor in comparison.
It's also blacker and should match better with the actual glass. It's more expensive, however.

I may be getting mine replaced so I will keep you posted if the new one does the same. Mine looks scratched and pitted so wrapping it black would be cheaper alternative. Car washes regardless if their touch or touchless can also damage this piece as well as the midnight package window trim.

I am starting to see some delamination on my 2019. I will try the Gloss Black PPF if I can find an installer who has it. 🍻
