Intake/Tune Questions

Purchased my 19 C43 AMG a few months back and decided I wanted to make more power but have little to no background in MB.
Is the JB4 a good option for the price point or is it more worth to spend the extra on the EC. (If EC, why? How much of a difference?)
Lastly, should I get an intake prior to getting one of those tunes or can that come after, as I have not seen a very definitive answer on which is best in this forum.. seems as if none of them really fix the issue of sucking in hot air but would like to know what is you all's preference.

Thanks in advance

Yeah man.. get it tuned by Eurocharge and go with the MST 2.0 cool air intake system with the bigger intake tubes. I makes a huge difference for sure. The JB4 is a good and less pricey tune, but if you want it to be bad ***, go with Eurocharge. I had JB4 and noticed a difference, but it was like night and day between the JB4 and the Eurocharge. I was told to never mess with the exhaust by an exhaust expert because it’s not worth it unless you want your car to sound like the idiots on the fast and furious lol.

Gotcha, mine requires the CPC tune as well since its 19+. Do you have any experience with the BMS intakes or was the MST 2.0 perfect for you first go around?

I just got my C43 also a few weeks ago (2017) and was looking in to the same thing. I was dead set on a Eurocharged (and will in the future) but I read about stacking. Basically using a JB4 and a Eurocharged tune together. After I found out that it was possible to “stack” I decided on a used JB4 with Bluetooth (bought it for $400 from a member) to get me started and will move up to a more powerful Eurocharged Stage 2 later on top of it if I want more. So the real question is how much power do you need and is it worth you to pay $1200-$1400 for a ECU tune now vs. a used JB4 w/ Bluetooth for $400-$450 or even a new setup for $750.

The one thing I do like about JB4 is you have the ability to switch between 8 different maps and can run anywhere from stock or 91 to E30+. I also like the low boost valet mode on it.

Map 0: Disables tuner
Map 1: Up to 4psi over stock peak, suitable for all 91 octane+ fuels
Map 2: Up to 5psi over stock peak, suggested for 93octane+
Map 3: Up to 5.5psi over stock peak, slightly more aggressive version of map2
Map 4: Up to 6psi over stock peak, suggested for E30+ or unleaded race gas mixtures
Map 5: Up to 7psi over stock peak, holding more boost to redline, suggested for E30+ or unleaded race gas mixtures
Map 6: User definable map, boost over stock entered on user adjustment page
Map 7: WMI (water/meth injection) progressive map for BMS FSB integration
Map 8: Low boost VALET map

Stacking the 2 isn’t a great idea. That’s a lot of extra boost to add on top of the EC tune. Why risk damaging the internals and turbos? The transmission can also only handle so much torque before you need a TCU tune, adding to your cost.

A few members have stacked an ECU tune with a JB4 with great results. I have not seen an instance where this led to engine failure, but is sure is possible (as is the case with any tune or piggyback).

Modal Works full CF intake and EC Houston stage one ECU and TCU tune (and good tires) took me from 13.7 to 12.2 quarter mile.

The EC tune has MUCH better partial throttle response than just the JB4 (I started with a JB4 and still have it in case I decide to do WMI).
