P0236 Code

Hey guys, I have a 2016 C450 with 152k miles on it. Car has been stage 2 tuned since 86k miles. Randomly about 2 months ago, the car went into limp while driving to work. I turned car on again at work and it was out of limp and no codes. About a week later the same thing happened and I scanned the car right away and got a pending code P0236: Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit Range/performance. This is usually only a pending code. No other codes. The car will be fine, no limp, for maybe 2 weeks, then it happens again. I usually can stop, turn car off and back on and it is out of limp. Sometimes it stays in limp. Recently it has finally appeared as a CEL. I cleared, and it stayed in limp with pending code. Last year I replaced the vacuum transducer due to different codes, overboost and underboost conditions and that fixed that issue. Car drives normally 80% of the time over the past ~10k miles.

I cannot figure out how to replicate this issue, it seems very random so far.

Is this just a sensor issue? What sensor is it? Is it the boost sensor that is on top of intercooler? Is it MAP sensor?

Thanks

Thanks for the response appreciate it. This much I understand, but it is just so hard to diagnose. I am hoping it is just a sensor, but I don't have a code for MAP sensor. I'm thinking I change both sensors because that's cheapest option to start, but I know it's unlikely. Also, the infamous turbo wastegate rattle on this engine just started about 15k miles ago... But Mercedes claims this is not faulty and its common issue that happens to people at even 40k miles. With my issue, car was fine for past 3 weeks and turned on his morning and it's in limp.

yeah diagnosis is the toughest part. If the sensors are not to pricey I just get all. I have had good luck buying parts from Rockauto. parts
