Front shock- possible leak?

Was changing my tires today and noticed the front passenger side shock seemed a bit darker not on the strut itself but the small cylinder -?resevoir- in front of it. It was dry to the touch and I thought the leak typically occurs on the strut itself but thought I’d check what your thoughts are. Is it in need of replacement or just some normal change?

The shocks on my 2020 coupe have been replaced several times under original warranty and extended MB warranty.

It was rather common to have bad shocks on the facelift for some reason, there were forum member reports of it leaking a few days after delivery. The facelift shocks are way more forgiving (comfortable) than pre-facelift, the ride quality was drastically improved so they changed something.
