C43 Brakes from Rockauto - What brand/model?

Hey!

I am looking at changing all my rotors and pads on my 2019 C300 with the AMG brakes package (same as C43).

I live in Quebec, Canada where we get pretty harsh winters with lots of salt.

I am shopping rotors/pads options on rockauto.com as the prices are better than what I can find locally, but there are so many options I am not too sure what to purchase and I’d be looking for recommendations.

What are you guys running? Any specific recommandation for my weather? I do not want to buy from MB, its not worth it in my opinion.

thanks!

The key to success with a German car is to buy the OEM supplier on their label. For example, ATE brake parts. Do NOT buy the cheapest rock auto bits, you are oft better off with FCP euro, or Pelican parts (not sure about the CA shipping part). I've kept BMW and Benz going at reasonable prices by just following this rule. Recently needed a gas cap for my C43 (164k miles). Dealer over $100. FCP Euro Benz part $75. Rockauto $37 dollars...came in the Motor Rad box (OEM supplier), and the best part-open box, out comes the Benz plastic envelope with gas cap....exactly the same part. In the past, I bought BMW bits, and you could see someone dremel tool-ed off the "BMW" logos......

Always try to find the OEM supplier, and buy that brand. Cheap discs warp....Zimmerman is reliable for German Discs, they were clearly the OEM for the rear brakes...also an OEM for Benz. Brembo is the OE for the front brakes, so you'll want that...and I have ATE pads, also OE supplier.

I second the FCP Euro recommendation. Also see

... if the wear divots are not gone, there's still life in the rotor (subject to a excessive scoring, cracking, chipping, etc. analysis).

It's common for rotors to last through 2 sets of pads.

My W204 originally had all genuine MB rotors and pads when they needed to be replaced. I was surprised how bad the front rotors looked they were so scored and uneven but that occurred before I had the car so no idea how it happened.

I decided to buy from FCP for the lifetime replacement. Its been over 5yrs now and the brakes still looked good last inspection. I dont put that many miles on the car. Because with FCP you have to buy the same parts then send back the originals to get the store credit for original purchase price i'll be buying the parts for the front first, get store credit for them then use the credit to buy the rear parts. Then i'll be stuck with a bunch of store credit. Something to keep in mind if you dont buy alot of parts from FCP.

I went with Zimmerman rotors which after having them think they are great. I like the silver coating look and they are holding up pretty well with the salted winter roads and also living right on the ocean. I went with Ferodo front pads and ATE rear pads which were listed as OE parts. They do look identical to the MB parts, I even think the old parts were stamped with those brands right on them.

I would always replace the rotors with the pads. Usually MB rotors have a wear limit of 2mm or less.

agreed-I got two sets of pads per rotor, and the guy who posted the "divots wear indicator" is 100% accurate.

I've only had my C43 for a couple years but have used FCP Euro and Rock Auto for my S60R for almost 15 years, and have saved a lot of money over buying from dealer. FCP gives you the OE option as well as the auto maker's part so you can go to Rock Auto and look up the OE part number - if RA has it you will save by going with them. Otherwise FCP Euro - plus they have lifetime warranty on parts. Saved on some parts that way over the 16 years I had the S60R. Will be doing the same for the C43 especially after my warranty runs out at the end of this year.
