I wonder what kind of performance mods there will be for these new 6.3 Liter AMG Engines. Since they are naturally aspirated, I doubt a chipped and pullied 6.3 will be able to compete with a chipped and pullied 5.5 Kompressor. Still, I heard that the new Lorinsor S550 with just chip, exhaust, and intake mods increased the horse from 385 to 420, so there is hope that this new batch of Mercedes engines will be moddable. The other problem would be the limits of the tranny...oh well.

I don't understand why they would detune the 6.3??? Why not just extract more HP out of the 5.5? That would make more sense, wouldn't it?

Not true. The V8 in the upcoming M3 will be a brand new unit derived from the V10 of the current M5 (in other words, they just take away 2 cylinders).

W204 better offers Comfort Access which I always wanted on a C-Class. I don't mind it is only 10% gain in hp so long it keeps a good gas milege as the C55. I love to try the AMG version of 7G-tronic and hopefully C63 will have a coupe version if the rumour becomes true? At any cost, I want mp3/DVD playback capability on my next C-Class. Paranomic sunroof is definitely something they should consider for the W204. It will be nice if I can also add Distronic to the W204 and I also hope Neck Pro becomes a standard option in C-class. I am patiently waiting.

i thought the 55 kompressor engine already stopped production? On our local MB web site, I can only find E63, CLS63...

20+ to list......
If possible, please find out the detailed spec's between the C63 engine & CLS63's. If the layout of both engines are the same, meaning cams duration and lift, valvetrain, head flow, short block setup, etc., then there's hope that we can bring it up to 507hp safely and reliably. Intakes and exhaust would not be a problem, since custom fabrication is around. If everything works out as mention above, the C63 will be the fastest in the next AMG line up given its advantage in weight.

i can hop into this, my family owns gas stations all over ny, all of our stations carry a premium grade with minimum octane of 93, but we do have stations which sells leaded and unleaded cam fuels, but you also have to take intoconsideration it has a MINIMUM rating, usually the ocatane points are 1 or 2 higher then listed

What you say is correct technically which is why the C63 won't have the full power of the new 6.2L V8. Mercedes isn't going to allow the C63 to be faster than the twice as expensive SL/CL/S 63 models. The C63 will likely get just enough hp to outdo the RS4 and new M3, both around 420hp so look for the Benz to get 445-450hp but with much more torque than either the Audi or BMW.

IMHO there will be 2 AMG engines for the new C class.
There will be the 'enhanced' 5,5 liter to about 400 HP
Secondly they will offer a limited, very high priced C63 with around 480 HP (limited version).

In addition, E63 is coming this fall with 500+ hp. Again, this "500+ hp" will be their publicized numbers, in reality the numbers could be higher, just like in E55 case.

It is well known that the publicized "469 hp" is just their strategy to keep the SL55, CL55 buyers happy. Therefore, the CLK63 actually doesn't have more horsepower than the current E55.

That's right. Only the dyno will tell.
Looking at the current model, C55 has the same engine and power rating as CLK55 (5.5L N/A, 360+ hp). So based on the history, there's a chance that the next upcoming C63 will have the same power rating as CLK63.

I just don't understand why if Mercedes already has a (possibly) detuned 63 engine (the one in the CLK63), why would they detune it even more with the C63? Then again, AMG has made the class exclusive C32 before, so maybe they will also make a seperate engine or another variation of it.
Unlike the 5.5 CLK55 , our local price of CLK63 and E63 are the same. Thus, there is no point to 'please' the E63 owner because they are not paying more than the CLK63 owner. The only reason to explain is the 63 engine is more a design efficient if with 481hp , and the heavy weight E63 is treated a less effiency boost up version of the 63 which is 514hp in order to compensate its performance loss due to weight. I know this is my bull****, but that is what I can think of.
