08 C63 vs. 08 M3 vs. 08 IS-F
I see a comparison test coming that will include the listed autos. From what I've read all the cars will have 400 plus HP. I'm leaning towards the new C63 as a favorite with the new 6.3. I know the BMW will be a contender though and the Lexus will not be far behind. What does everyone think?
|
I may be a little biased but I think C63 is going to destroy all of these cars. Ok fine not destroy but it'll perform slightly better. I don't know the numbers in curb weight on the IS-F but I think it's going to be a cow. I wish the C63 had some form of forced induction like the C32 or E55's. Heck, the 335i's with that Vishnu thing can make most 400hp cars have a run for their money.
|
I think the real comparison is going to come down to the c63 and the m3. The IS-F looks kind of goofy to me :nix: . From what i've read, it seems like the c63 power will be a bit better than both the m3 and IS-F. I'm really curious to see how they're going to tune the c63 suspension...:zoom:

C63 > M3 > Is-f
The C63 should beat both of them EASILY, shouldn't it???
To my understanding, the C63 will have 475 hp while M3 will have 410 and IS-F will get 400 hp. So the C63 will have at LEAST 60 more horsepower... Am I missing something here? :nix: I think the C63 should easily come out on top. And wait until aftermarket tuners re-tune the engine back to 507 hp and maybe even more... :D |

I think it will the same old story, Mercedes will be the most powerful, fastest and easiest to live with everyday. The BMW will be the better handling, come with a manual trans and provide that connection that the Benz doesn't. The Lexus will be fast and all too isolated and totally lacking in "sport", but reliability survey worshipers who have a pulse will love it.

Bench racing before any of the cars are even released is :hay:
Also, don't know what you guys read but the C63 is said to have something in the 450 area. |

My money is on the less powerful M3 from 0-60 and 1/4 mile.
However, the C63 will be easily modded to the full power of the motor. "In keeping with BMW's high-revving "M" tradition, maximum engine speed is 8,300 rpm. The engine is the lightest V8 in the world, weighing less than the previous M3's inline-six." Better keep an eye on the weight of the M3....we might be surprised with the power to weight ratio. |

^ + 2 ....and the Lexus' brakes will probably suck.
As if the C32's are any better? Have you read MBenzNL's post on them? ;) You can get a C63. You can get a M3. But with 1000 IS-F's, good luck trying to get one of those :D |

Hm, not sure, mainly because none of the three cars are for sale yet and there haven't been any head to head to head reviews yet -- so as far as any of us are concerned, you could be buying the fastest car in the world (well, not any of us, I bet you're a Lexus engineer trying to bait me :D).

the 3 cars should be a handful...........the lexus should not be in for repairs even minor compared to the other two. i like all three but have to say the m3 in sedan version is the ticket for me. the best is the lexus will cost less and imagine the tuners that will bump up the power on that 400hp+ v8. its unique and we will fear that car(lexus) down the road if we see it. to be honest i am leaning heavily to quality and gadgets more which is almost guarranteed in the lexus compared to the other two. i see keeping my c32 for another year or two when the prices on the c63,m3 and the ls-f are more of a bargain. though i feel the lexus will be the preferred.

It will be interesting to see how up to date the nav versions are when they're released, e.g. if they have the traffic updates etc.

Nope the M3 motor is actually heavier than the Audi 4.2L V8 and the AMG 6.3L motor.

In a three way review, C&D placed E63 first and M5 third (10 cylinders high revving, but...) in their class. I am sooo curious for this one to come out.

Ricky.......put down your Lexus pom-poms....they're getting better, but they are not there yet.
The Mercedes and BMW just have to be worse. Come on, the IS-F only comes with an 8 speed automatic -- how fun is that :( |
