i just got my new motortrend in the mail and it has an article on the W204 with a little blurb about the new C63 coming out...

what i found interesting is that they say the C63 will not be hand-built by AMG anymore...it will be a production car just like the regular W204...very sad if you ask me, as that is what makes an AMG vehicle so unique

the positive is that it is claimed to have 480hp...

I think the 'hand built' phase is being tossed around a bit freely. Looks like M-B is facing the facts. I just watched the CLS63 review on 5th Gear where they said something like 180,000 engines come out of AMG now. I can't believe they are actually hand built.

The 63 engine for the C class will be severely detuned. Rumors have it that the C63 can be tuned to match the stock S63 hp.

I agree. I kind of doubt that AMG technicians had much to do with anything in my C32 other than bolting together the engine. AMG has become the BMW "M" or the Audi "RS." Doesn't matter as long as the car is hot.

Having 80 horsepower more than the competition, the C63 should easily dominate the category...

The entire car hasn't been handbuilt for a very long time.

I think Motortrend is being...well motortrend! The engine will probably be "handbuilt" still.
