It doesn't give more sales to either maybe to the purest but like i said "who cares". So a person with a new C63 would have to worry about a new V8 M3 on the track course..what about straight awasys or even on a light on regular streets then the M3 owner has to worry right? Just buy what you prefer people and screw those reviews they get no where with alot of us.
EXACTLY! right on.

Haven't I seen mileage numbers posted around the 10mpg range? Imagine if those overdrive gears weren't there! (I realize that the 10mpg is probably with the tester's foot heavily into the carpet most of the time).

I mean, these folks at Mercedes corporate are just class-A morons. To let their flagship AMGs get demeaned like this over a part that their competition has standard (not to mention Camaro SSs, Z28s, Trans Ams, Mustangs GTs/Cobras, and the like all have as well) and which would cost them a few hundred extra to install at most is just pathetic.

Apparently, the wizards in their marketing department have not yet figured out that these track numbers play a big role in which car wins these comparos, which in turn plays a big role in which car many the people who read these comparos will buy.

Oh, well...get used to it until they wise up and start giving their cars the same traction potential as the competition.
that's a really good point. Alot of people on BMW boards say the same thing.

My 3950lb Caddy came stock with an LSD and 245 Goodyear Eagle F1's all around. I was pulling .9x range at the track. I switched to Toyo T1-R's (245 front/275 rear) and I consistently pull 1.09 left and 1.10 right b/f the tires start pushing and I can get on throttle much sooner and more aggressively. Tires make a HUGE difference.

Fatter, stickier tires and an LSD will undoubtedly make the C63 much faster! I guess that's a pretty obvious statement

According to the StarTek manual the simulated limited slip differential (braking one wheel) only functions under 40 kph in a straight line. This has zero affect on a road course.

The Jan edition of EVO is not yet available in US stores, does someone have it in the U.k already and can give a capsule review of what the testers had to say about C63 in terms of handling, ride, gear box etc.

Thanks

Totally incorrect. The traction control function that mimics a mechanical LSD works at all speeds. This applies to all newer AMG models that were introduced since (and including) the C55. It has the most effect on a road course with slow tight turns.

And it only applies when you press the "ESP Off" button.
