C55AMG W203; 330i E90
ic, locally here the first batch should arrive in March.
Initially, there should be more C63s than M3 E92s mainly the M3 costs ~20% more than the C63 and not many ppl want a manual transmission.

Sorry to butt in but I felt compelled to chime in as I have both the C55 and the E60 M5. I love my C55, but the M is the most technologically advanced machine I have ever driven - I feel its an engineering marvel. It is the first car I have ever owned that I can't imagine replacing - only supplementing (with either a Range Rover for the wife, or an F430 for the weekends.) The fact that I can tune it to my driving mood, let's you appreciate the maximum settings when you really want to experience its limits. I love AMGs, but there is something about this car that I strongly encourage you to drive it to truly appreciate it. Here is a picture of both of my babies...Cheers!

I'm replacing my C55 at the end of the August and trying to see what are my options. Can you chime in on drivability of M5 on long drives and in traffic jams (I encounter both frequently here in Chicago). Can M5 be driven in full auto mode? And what about that 'jerkines' that everybody mentions when driven in auto? Can you have ventilated and heated seats in the back?
Enjoy your babies!
Sorry for guys

Firstly, I was sick of Audi NA not confirming the sedan's arrival. I respect wagons but don't want one personally while Audi's refusal to confirm either meant at least a one year wait and no opportunity to spec it up.
Secondly, the car itself. When putting my deposit down I was hoping for a DSG-style box. I was also appalled at the weight and hoping for more in the styling department. Living in SoCal means no need for AWD either so that was just a power sapper on the freeways. I still like the thing, but decided it wasn't for me.
Thirdly, the 08 M5. A truly staggering piece of kit. Loads of steering feel, fantastic body control, huge brakes, SMGIII and the most phenomenal engine on the road. Any kinks have been worked out and the facelift has really lifted the interior. It is a very focused car, so not for everyone, but it remains a highly practical and roomy sedan. It's the best car I've owned and the compliments never stop coming from passers-by. It's one failing is the 70liter tank gives appalling range, but blame BMW for that not Motorsport. I'm going to keep this car for 3-4 years and will only change it when the next version eventually appears.

1) I've not used D (auto mode) in the 4,000miles I've covered so far. It has to remembered the car is a *manual* with an electronic clutch. Not liking rowing your own gears is personal choice but anyone unable to even understand shifting should have their license revoked.
2)So yes it *can* be driven as an auto, but it makes a poor, jerky job of it by all accounts. It is also a criminal waste of the car's talents.
3) Heated seats front and rear. Ventilated seats only available in the front.

Thanks for your input! I envy your affection for this car and manual mode, but in my world - when going from freeway speeds to complete stop in traffic for hrs a day and been constantly on the phone at the same time- I have to have AUTO mode or automatic transmition. That's why my C55 is a PERFECT choice for me and if not for the fact that it's getting a bit small and will be out of warranty soon I wouldn't change it for quite some time. I'd love to get my hands on S63 but have other priorities at this point and it wont happen for another couple of years. In a meantime with my C55 running out of warranty and I need something to replace it with.
I actually test drove SMG M5 today and have to say I loved the feel of it.
Enjoy your car
Sorry for again!

I fully understand. In my opinion, the E63 sounds perfect for you. Looks great in black and maybe even more so in white with the pano roof. You'll be able to drive a good deal too.

u should definately get the E63 if ur looking for another AMG. it's definately a step up from the C55 in regards to engine, interior, and options availability. keyless go is such an awesome option and i don't think i can get another car w/o it. take advantage of the soft market for the E63 and the great money factor lease deal going on.
take care, john.
