Australian Built Competitor for c63AMG

uses the corvette motor LS7....
These cars have quite a following here. very fanatical supporters of the brand. in Australia at least, this car will be compared directly with the merc c63/bmw m3/lexus AS-IF.

Impressive
The CSV GTS 427 is featured in the April issue of "Motor Trend". They say the car is conservatively estimated at 536 HP/486 TQ at the flywheel as it is only tested by CSV on a chassis dyno where it laid down 430 hp to the rear wheels. 0-62 is 4.9 and the 1/4 mile is around 13.1 @ 117 with 125 reached at 14.7 seconds.
MT mentions what the the OP said: At half the price of comparable MB AMG and BMW Ms, this car is a serious competitor with bank-for-the-buck appeal. They also say this could be the ultimate G8 and why should the Aussies have all the fun! LOL

rubbish this car will not be compared to the C63, when the Australian motoring press do comparisson tests, it's a much larger car, it will be compared to the E63, M5, RS6 and Ford Falcon GT
This version will not come to America, it's built by HSV not Holden, it will probably be built to order, like all previous top end HSV's.

This car looks to be close in size and weight to the C63 so the comparison may be valid.

It's actually built by CSV (Corsa Specialized Vehicles) and not HSV per the MT article. (It is based on an HSV GTS 6.0 though) MT specifically mentions that that there are rumors of HSV having an LS7 powered prototype in development for possible production as well.

The car has been built to celebrate 20 years of HSV.
Corsa haven't released their version of the 427 yet, plus they don't have factory backing and no race pedigree, they do have a following in Australia but the cars are not as highly sort after as HSV's.
The Holden Commodore is a much larger car than a c class Mercedes, it's bigger than a 5 series or e class, almost as big as a SWB 7 series or S class. HSV have an e55 and M5 which they use to benchmark there models.

Tripower did you actually read the article, the car is not built by CSV, it is built by HSV. Have a look at this webpage and it will give you all the details.

Here's a link to the MT article and the CSV version I'm referencing: http://www.motortrend.com/features/p...gts/index.html
Dimensionally the HSV/G8 is around 8" longer, 4" wider and 100lb heavier than the new C63.

CSV will be lucky to ship a handfull of these cars and if the pricing is like what he used to try and get for his work it will be easily 150,000 AUD. The HSV will be the better car, it will be more sought after. The Aussie motoring press will compare it to the M5, RS6 and E55 which will also be the cars HSV will have benchmarked it against.
Obviously you have never been anywhere near a Holden Commodore, they are big car and considerably larger than a C class Mercedes, for starters you could easily fit 5 six footers in a Commodore whereas you couldn't in a C. The Commodore weighs anywhere from 1700kg to 1900kg depending on model and engine, the C63 weighs 1725kg (a bit porky for such a small car), dimension wise the C is 4725/1795/1438 the Holden is bigger at 4894/1899/1476 (length/width/height). For comparisson an 5 series is 4841/1846/1468 at 1600 to 1800kg and an E is 1700 to 1925kg 4818/1890/1440. So much for the Commodore being close in size to the C its bigger than a 5 series or E class.
This is also not the first time Holden have looked at putting the 427 into a Commodore, the last attempt was the HRT 427, which sadly never made production. http://www.netcarshow.com/holden/2002-hrt_427_concept/
This car was intended to be HSV's track special Porsche 911 GT3 kinda car, very limited production, handbuilt mega expensive (for a holden) over 200,000 AUD.

Commodore, no....Monaro, yes!
Funny you should mention the Commodore...I have not seen one but will shortly in the guise of the Pontiac G8. I do know the Monaro via the GTO and it is a surprisingly large car for a 2 door. It’s as long as many mid-sized sedans. I enjoyed your link to the HRT 427 as I own a Pontiac GTO!
I’d have to convert your dimensions above from metric but I’m sure the comparisons tie out to my English equivalents above. To me the extra 8” length of the Commodore may not be much larger than the new C but I can see your point of where it lies as compared to the 5 and the E. I will reserve my judgment until the G8 hit’s the shores and I see them on the road along with the new C when I can see that "Commodore" up close!
