19 inch wheels?
I've read on this forum and heard from my local dealer that the 19" wheels that appear on the C63 AMG website will not be available for purchase here in the US. Why is this? I really like the look of these wheels over the standard 18 inch. Would it be possible to purchase these wheels? I suppose an aftermarket wheel like the OZ Superturismo GT would suffice as it looks almost identical. Any feedback is appreciated.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it but every review I have read or seen said the optional 19" wheels ruined the performance of the car. I know some people think they look better (filling out the wheel well and all) but I can't imagine putting anything on my car that would negatively effect performance just to look good.

No, I don't think they will ruin acceleration times, actually I think they will improve since they are likely to hook up better. I want to go with a 19" R Compound, probably 265 width....larger if it will fit.

19" Wheels are availble here in the UK, £500 of an option [I have went for this] I only hope they are easier to clean than the 19" that are on my cls

Have you guys test driven the car yet ? I have, and on 18" it's already a bit harsh with the ride. I think 19s will make it even worse, especially if you get roads like we do in Australia. I think thats why dealers have chosen to omit 19s from the options list...... acceleration is brutal tho !

I'm torn between 18's and 19's, but will likely want the 19" in the end. What I'd also like to do is add a little width front and rear, say 19x9 and 19x10.
Any advice on this? Is there anything I need to consider in choosing the right wheels? Will extra width have any downside (I can only think of upside - always thought that AMG provides too little wheel anyway)?
I'm far from an expert so any advice would be much appreciated. I hear talk of offsets etc and just want to make sure I get it right.
Thanks to all!
10 weeks to go!!! getting very impatient!

By the way, food for thought.....my '07 BMW 550 sport has the same rear wheel dimensions (18") as the c63 and with only (hah) 360 hp / 360 lb/ft my rear wheels spin frequently. All the time in the wet, and under hard acceleration at most speeds (up to ~90 mph) when I hit any minor road imperfection / expansion joint etc.
I just don't see how the same wheel / tire dimensions are going to come close to handling the power my c63 is going to put out. Don't get me wrong, a little wheel spin is fun, but big fat pieces of rubber gripping the road sounds (and looks) pretty good too!!
