The other guy mentioned flicking the unit off and covering the ash tray, but I had the same line of thinking when I had it installed there for two reasons. 1) If I'm driving through a state where it is illegal, I would like to conceal it as best as possible. 2) There are still the chance you may get nabbed with a radar gun. The system alerts you of the radar, but it doesn't jam the radar signals. I'd rather flick over the cover if I get pulled over so I don't **** off the cop any more and ruin any chance in hell of getting out of the ticket.

I think I already mentioned I had mine installed at the MB dealership too. My dealership is a performance center and they do nice work. Like I mentioned earlier, you may want to see if they could slightly angle the display a bit to make it easier to read. In all honesty though, I don't look at the display that often. As someone else mentioned, the voice alerts are really all you need. They mounted the speaker under the glove box area.

No worries about the tire, but thanks for the thoughts. It's more of a hassle than anything else. I'm just glad it happened during rush hour when I wasn't driving too fast.

The police officer was standing in the road with the laser gun pointed at me and the alarm and voice alert "Front Laser Shifting...Front Laser Shifting" went off immediately. I watched the cop look at the laser gun and tilt it back and forth in disbelief. I then slowed down and rolled down the window. He looked over at me and simply said "Slow it down." I was impressed at how well it worked. The next two times were on the interstate. One time I was doing 95 in a 65 mph zone and the last time I was doing over 120 in a 65 mph zone. The distance was further than in the first instance and the voice alarm went off as soon as I noticed there was a speed trap up ahead. Needless to say I slowed it down and kept going without either of them pursuing me.

Since I already have the system installed, I'm not really too worried about all the reviews and skeptics. I didn't find anything but positive feedback prior to purchasing it and it's worked flawlessly for me so far. I'd be more worried about all the reviews if it had failed on me...especially since I often have opportunities to drive 120 - 150 mph when there isn't much traffic. I paid about $1900 to have it installed and it has already paid for itself between court costs, attorney fees, and insurance premium increases.

Please keep me posted on what you find out though. I'm sure every system has its weaknesses and I just hope that I don't find out mine for a while.
I notice you're in Atlanta, the test graph looks like they have most if not all laser guns setup to Jam in your location. I'm assuming the Laser Atlanta Stealth (on graph) refers to what they use in Atlanta and BTW you have such great highways for flying... I've been there on business many times and I've flown with my rent-a-car. Well thanks for your review....good luck!!

Yeah, we all call GA-400 the GA-Autobahn. I'm a spirited driver, but I pull back in traffic or when I see cars in the lane next to mine. There is nothing worse than having someone in the next lane drift over towards you when you are going 120+. They look in the rear view mirror before you are even in their field of vision and slowly start to drift over right as you're up on them. Can't blame them since I'm the one closing in on them quickly.

Unfortunately, one of my friends got nabbed yesterday in his M3 speeding just before the toll plaza on GA-400. He didn't have any radar/laser jamming system and now has a pretty hefty ticket, so regardless of what you all settle on -- get something!

I ended up mounting my V1 above the mirror. I planned to do a stealth install, but in the end figured it really wasn't worth it as the V1 is fairly hidden up there anyway, and the optimal location. It was easy enough for me to route the wire under the headliner and behind the pillar, sneak it behind the glove box and just plug into the 12v outlet. Didn't even need to hardwire and I was still able to conceal the wires.

hey did you have to remove the side dash panel to get the wire into to the glovebox?

Nope. Basically I ran the wire behind the rubbery flap that covers the seam from the pillar cover down toward the bottom of the glove box. If you run your hand down the glove box, near the hinge point, you will feel a flimsy plastic cover that allows access inside the glove box. Even when I open the door the wire is 100% hidden...I can't even see where I entered into the glove box.

The "hardest" part was routing the wire from the headliner to the rubber flap along the pillar, as you have to squeeze the wire between the top of the pillar and headliner. Not much room there even for a thin wire, and I wasn't comfortable popping the cover off.

Well I just pulled the trigger on the Laser Interceptor LI QUAD with the New GB deal along with the SpeedLab Tester, Thanks to Cliff LI.

A few yrs ago I got nailed with laser, cost me $400.00 + points and that was with my truck F-@#$%^$# I'm not chancing getting nailed with the C63 as we all know this car cooks, but as always safe driving. Its just when I have the need to blow past traffic that things happen. I will also continue using my passport 8500 which has proved to me to be a great radar/ laser detector... Checkout LI test reviews below

Cliff LI is the best!

My MB dealer just became an authorized Escort reseller and installer. I'm pulling the trigger next week on the 9500ci. I've done a fair amount of research on this versus other options including the V1 + LI combo. To me, having everything fully integrated is important.

Before I drop $1,900 including installation, can anyone talk me out of this and into another solution that's better + less money. (No, not drive slower, but I expect and welcome other smart a$$ comments).

Hey Taylor - I just pulled the trigger on a 9500ci for the SLK, so ask me again in a month or so.

For me, it's the best option, as I really don't like having to remember to remove and secure the detector every time I park and don't put the top up..

Talked to a couple of guys who have them, and the only thing mentioned so far is that the single rear emitter is pretty easy to punch through. One of these guys is insane - he's got a 9500ci and a quad LI setup - over $4k worth of protection. That's a bit more than I'll ever be willing to invest!

Well all I can say is I also did a fair amount of research and almost went with the 9500CI but after further research and clear cut reviews with bench marks I'd say its safe to say that the overall cost of the 9500CI was spent on perfecting the LED laser shifter and after reviewing "Guys of LIDAR" which are specialist in this field, I was then convinced that money well invested would be in a test proved DIODE technology, Not the cheaper LED... My final decision was also pricing QUAD @ $1075.00, Cliff from CI has started a discount rate for a DIODE QUAD laser jammer which will blow away the 9500CI and everything else out there. You will also need to get a radar detector but for me I already have one... With equipment (including radar detector) and installation should be under $1900 for the best... Good Luck!

I looked at the LI solution as well, and may at some point regret going with the CI. FYI, the retail price of the LI Quad is 549GBP here in the UK, so roughly $780 usd.

I actually looked around a few web sites and could only find dual heads for $700 so LI QUAD for $1075 i thought was a bargain...

And why would you regret at some point? Also I was told by Cliff LI that this price will Only be for the MB forum GB, I donno...

I did a Google search and found QUAD units going for $880 but these prices are from a year ago, on some other GB sites. All I can say is I researched Cliff LI and he seemed to be a reputable sales person, but then who really knows...

Agree completely, and suspect that the exchange rate is hammering the US sales at the moment - it is at a 10 year or so low!

Cliff seems like a good guy, and I suspect you'll do fine.

My possible regrets come from wanting a good stealth install, and having to pay for shifters to get the "best" in the way of radar detection - didn't really leave a lot to spend on additional shifters.

I've heard - no clue how true it is - that Escort is switching to laser diode heads, and will make a "retrofit" kit available, so I may get lucky after all!

Sounds great if its true but it sounds like a costly long shot...

FYI...Cliff LI also advised me to the fact that as good as the LI Diode is today there will be another CPU upgrade for Only $50.00 (which just requires swapping of IC chip) coming down the pike which will make for further enhancements.

Also I went as far as to buy (discounted of cause) NEW SpeedLab Laser Jammer Tester, these sensors can be damaged because they are directly exposed to the road so I decided to go the extra mile and get the tester... the way I look at it if when I go on a long trip I'd rather know myself if my sensors are working @ 100%... I'd hate for an officer to tell me with a ticket, make sense? to me it does... web prices are below

Sounds like a decent investment - I was under the impression (perhaps mistaken?) that the LI "tested" the heads on power up? No clue what they are actually able to test..

It does test the internal head circuits but as far as the external sensor or (receiving sensor) the only one way to test the receiving sensor, It would be to shine laser light directly to the sensor. The SpeedLab laser tester puts out different laser frequency's which would be a across the laser frequency spectrum.

Just had an after thought, I read about the rear sensors or a QUAD heads, you can use the rear as a rear parking sensor or front parking sensor... You just need to turn the unit On when parking and it starts beeping quickly as you get closer to an object... That being said, this would be a quick receive / transmit test but I'd say it's most likely to be a different light transmission. The SpeedLab laser tester is able to send out multiple laser gun beams one at a time.
