Is the C63 slower in "M" mode?

I raced a supercharged (magnacharged) C5 corvette earlier today from a roll on the freeway. The first time we raced, I had the car is sport "S" mode and slowly pulled away from him from about 70 to 130. He pulled up beside me after that and waved. I put the car in manual "M" mode and downshifted to the lowest allowable gear to race him again. We both went at the same time and I upshifted perfectly everytime at around 7K - 7100 RPM. At 130 MPH he had about 2 cars on me. The car actually felt seat of the pants slower in the M mode over leaving it in the S mode.

Anyone else experience anything like this?

Were you the only person in the car or did you have drivers? And you don't necessarily have to wait for your car to go around 7000 RPM to shift up.. you need to let the engine speak to you.

In any case.. the Corvette is a much lighter car. It's a 2 door coupe and it also has less drag.

You should notice the center of the gauge goes red to shift pre 7k RPM and seems to accelerate faster if you short shift it. 6800 seems to be pretty close to the sweet spot in M mode. By the time it actually changes gears it climbs a little more but keep you off the rev limited and accelerating smoothly.

It will be intresting to see the dyno curve when someone posts it to see the peak power/torque points.

This makes a lot of sense - peak horsepower is at 6800
