Yes it's true, take a look at the tread patterns on most higher performance tires and you will understand why. I expect most service guys that know anything about tires would properly handle it and not just flip them, unless of course you go to the shady shop down the street to save a buck.

That is absolutely correct for the majority of performance tires that are uni-directional and specified as such on the tire with the directional arrows.

You are allowed to "demand" an oil change every 100 miles if you so choose. You will just have to pay about $140.00 every time you do so.

And in reference to rotatiing the tires from side to side, that is not mercedes protocol. Tires wear differently front to rear not from one side to the other, so in effect a vehicle with staggered tires has no need for a rotation.

I have a sticker on my service manual that is issued by the dealer suggesting that it is critical to change the differential oil for AMG engines at 3000 km. I was also told by my salesman to not forget that. As the rest of you said, you do not need an oil change and can go with either 10000 km or a year, whichever comes first.

The differential oil change is a must though.

You can also change it everyday...

Cars with the 030 performance package (LSD) require rear end oil change at 1000 mi. This is a free service by the dealer. Check you maintance booklets.

The free 1000mi check is just that. Its a check that all 4 tires are on the car, and nothing is fallen off yet.

MB recommends oil changes at 10k intervals. I change mine every 5K and also have my staggered wheels aligned and balanced. Pay the xtra $$ and have MB do it. Non MB shops don't have the proper wheel alignment equipment that is geared to the 5 little slots in the MB factory rims.

If you plan to keep your beasts, pay the xtra $ and enjoy it right.

BTW--wheel balancing at 5K intervals really keeps the car riding smooth at 100+ mph.

Hey - I just go back from my nearest dealer and was told that there is nothing on the MB system showing that diff fluid needs to be changed at 1000m (1600km) ... I have the sticker on my window that says that it should be changed but they are saying there is nothing in their system and this applies to "other" AMG's ...

The place where I purchased it had no idea either, so that is 2 dealers in the Vancouver area that seem to think this does not need to be done...

what do i do now ?

As far as I know, and these numbers could be off...cuz I did hear it from a friend. Oil change should probably be changed at 2000 miles after the car is fully broken in. That's when I plan to do mine. But I am very curious about the transmission fluid as well. We all know the book says no, but is it recommended to be done for the car to last a longer time?

the clear sticker located at the top right hand corner of the windshield instructs to get a diff oil change at 1800 miles.

The sticker does say that, i think its 1875 miles or 3000 km ... apparently MB canada does not have this in their computers ... as most of us know if its not on the screen it does not exist.

i know the 08 G55 require the diff. fluid change at 3000km(CND model) , and it is listed in their service booklet

The LSD fluid needs to changed @ 1825 miles, what you should do is call a U.S.A. dealer ( Ray Catena Edison, NJ. AMG center) and hand the phone over to them, then wait for your LSD oil change

I checked this afternoon and it says plainly to replace @ 2000 miles

On cars equip with the P 030 performance package (limited slip differential-LSD) the differential oil is a free oil change at 1000 mi. This is a must.

I talked to my guy at Penske in West Covina (Peter), and asked him about the oil change as well. He told me to just bring in the car this week for the 1000 mile break-in check up, and that my first oil change will be done once I hit 10000 miles. I forgot to ask him about the diff oil and other fluids though. I'll ask him again tomorrow once I drop my car off for the check up.

I did my first oil change on the car after the break in, around 1100miles then changed the diff fluid around 1800 miles, I paid as it is NOT included on the regular service schedule, so just pay it for piece of mind, not much to ask for....i would never wait 10000km for an oil change, even if i was driving a LADA (pos).

I took mine in at 2,000 miles and had the LSD oil changed. They charged me $150.06. Where does it say that it is free and I'll go get my refund.

FWIW, the dealer didn't know what to do as this was the first C63 they'd done and I had to convince them the LSD oil needed to be changed.

My 09' had no suck sticker. However, the maintenance book did say change the C63 rear diff fluid at 2000 miles. Any idea what I should pay for this service and a oil change?

I had both done and it was just under $200, I think diff oil was $69.95 and then the engine oil change at around $120

Those of you that had the LSD fluid changed by a dealer make sure you look at your invoice and verify that the correct fluid was used. I recently visited a local dealer to buy the fluid and they tried to sell me ATF fluid claiming it was what MB uses in all the cars. That is incorrect.

LSD cars use Castrol SAF-XJ 75W-140.

Non-LSD cars use Titan Sintopoid FE SAE 75W-85.
