Aftermarket filters/removal of charcoal filters - softer VROOM when starting

Has anyone else done this and noticed that when you start your C63, the loud rumble of the exhaust isn't as loud as before?

I installed some VRP filters and also removed the charcoal filters, reflashed the ECU by my head tech, and started the car and it didn't have as loud of a Vroom as before. I drove it home and the throttle appears to be more responsive. I let the car sit for a couple of hours and started it again and same thing, the Vroom wasn't as loud. Doesn't really matter to me but was just wondering if other people experienced it

I have replaced the filters and removed the charcoal filters and retained the stock ECU settings.

There is no change in the startup throttle blip, but I do get 1 mile per gallon better on the highway.

I should correctly say that my stock ECU settings are still there. My headtech just reflashed them back to stock ECU settings after he installed the filters.

What I like!
In my experience, when the engine is warm it does not rev up as much when you start it.

Leave it overnight and see what happens in the morning.

I totally agree with Hans, it seems first thing in the morning you get a loud gurgle and popping on start up, when the car is warm it seems much more tamed....now i am thinking about putting air conditioning in my garage

Hmm, I'll try that and see. The engine was pretty warm yesterday because I drove it around a lot. Thanks.

When you take the cover off the air filter, there is a thin charcoal filter attached to the cover in plastic clips.

I removed just the charcoal filter from each side.

I'm not sure I follow you.

I am only aware of one set of Charcoal filters stacked in the air filter housing on each side.

Yes, you replace the stock air filters with the aftermarket ones that you purchased. You should remove the charcoal ones too but nothing is put back in the intake system to replace the charcoal ones.
