Hans said it best. Not as fun to dirve a fast car slow as a slow car fast... I'll sacrifice some performance but still want to enjoy my spirited runs around the highway ramps... I'll pdate on the falkens after I get some milage on them.

I'm curious to see if you saw any improvement with both wear and grip by going with the 265s in back. This is on OEM wheels, right?

Buy rear tires in bulk and enjoy the car.
I only got 3300 miles out of the first set of stock tires.
I went with 275-35-18's on the stock rims and I can tell there is a little more traction but she still spins at will. Enjoy!

I thought this was humorous. If you buy a car like this you SHOULD NOT worry about tires!!! Thats like being the stud in college and complaining about cost of rubbers. Its part of the job! Its a wear item on a 500hp car. Be happy we dont have to buy 19's or 20's the prices are 50% more

I'm a touch over 6K and I'm on Tire Rack and Discount Tire as we speak looking for a wheel/tire set. I expected somewhere between 8-10K but I've needed tires since about 5K. The dealer wants $445 a tire....not gonna happen. Thinking about going with a Goodyear F1 tire.

Replacing rear tires every 4,000 to 5,000 miles is going to get expensive if you want to keep everything matching. However, if you are going to enjoy the car and burn the tires off every two to three months here is an option. The Cooper Zeon 2XS. They are cheap and they grip well. I've had them on about a week and they work great. I went with the 275-35-18 on the stock rims and they look and fit good. Just my two cents worth. They were only $169 each plus the mounting etc. and I know I'll be back soon.
Good luck racing!!

Just be careful with a M + S because of the handling compromise.
Tires I am thinking about when all four have to go.
Michelin Pilot Sport 2's (NOT CUPS!!!!)
Toyo R888s depending on wear rating
Perilli's different models
bridgesonte potenzas Have to see which ones. because this is a tire being used on the 911 turbo with some success and longevity.
WIll think about some others.

lots of options. I'm running the faulkins and have no issues. Grip is good, treadlife is much better, ride quality is smooth, same road noise and half the price of the P-Zeros. I even like the side wall a bit better when shined up...

6000 miles now and my rears still look great. I do 95% of my driving on the freeway though, not accelerating. When I do get a chance, it spins the tires quite easily. How do you guys with chips put down the power???
I will go with Yoko Advan Neovas when it's time -- they have a lot more grip than the stock Pirellis.

Then imagine this......I'm excited about seeing the new Eagle F1s on a C63 and I don't even have my car yet. sounds a bit crazy, I know. I had the previous Eagle F1s (GSD1 I believe) on my previous 203 C280. They were excellent in the wet or dry! So I'm curious as to how the new (Assymetric?) Eagle F1s perform.
I'm just planning ahead.

Anyone ever hear of this?? Anyway take a peek. They feel great so far. Initial impressions compared to the stock Pirelli: The Eagle F1 feels harder and is slightly louder.
I expect the F1's to handle better in the wet and to corner better. The softer compound of the Pirellis's probably makes them easier to get heat into. I'll have her out today and will provide more feedback.
Total price was $855 installed for the set. I forgot to redeem a $30 coupon and there's a Goodyear $50 rebate. Dealer wanted $447 a tire just for the rears.

The Goodyear F1's were terrible on my C55. They wore out quickly. I replaced them with Yokohama S. Drive's and they seemed to last much longer. A bit more road noise, but better wear. Did not notice much traction loss. I am thinking of the S. Drive's for my C63 rears when the time comes. I'm at 2900 miles and am about a third through the tread. I estimate 6k on the miles. Not much different from my old C55. I plan on increasing tire width to 265's also. Any other thoughts on the S. Drive's?

Range Rover Supercharged, C63 AMG Tenorite grey.
Just logged in to the forum and this post was near the top, what timing! I have just come back from having the two rears replaced. No burnouts ESP left on, nearly always! I drive with family in the car most of the time and occasionally get a bit of a blast down twisty 'C' roads in the week. I would not consider myself heavy on tyres and brakes, I usually get better than average milage on them.
I've done 4100miles from new my nearside(UK) tyre was nearly a slick and .5mm across offside!!!
I spoke to the tyre rep and he said the conti's are expected to do no more than 6k max between 4k and 6k is the norm for this tyre on UK roads.

Update on the Goodyear F1's
Initially, the fronts rumbled alot over 100mph. Gonna take the shop up on the offer to replace the front tires. It's gotten considerably better. Took her on a 150 mile road trip and the initial rumble that was there is gone. I'd still say the F1's are noisier than the stock Porelli but keep in mind the F1 is an all-season tire. It rained on me a little so I got to test wet weather grip. I'm impressed with the tire after roughly 500 miles. The price is a bargain compared to the cost of the PS2's. I probably don't need an all-season tire but figured it couldn't hurt to have them on for the colder months.

jtdominate, Thanks for the pics and write up!
Are those Eagle F1 Asymmetric tyres? They don't look the same from the pics. If not what model are they? Attached is the pic I got off the Goodyear site for the Asymmetric design.
