The Speed Limiter in a PP
So... I have a (so-called) "performance package" C63 AMG I got a week ago. Regarding the PP issues, how do you tell if you really got the "upped" speed limiter and LSD? I know we didn't get the brakes or suspension or alcantara steering wheel...
The reason I ask is, I think a speed governor kicked in at 155 mph. I was doing this speed in a safe, controlled area... I'm not suicidal

For the speed limiter, if you felt a 'fuel cut off' (basically the pedal became 'dead') at 155MPH, then they did not remove the limiter. In that case, if you paid for it, I'd want a refund. At 155MPH you'd expect it to still climb steadily, so if the digital reader doesn't say 156, 157 within the next 2 secs, it's not gonna happen.
Merc really screwed this PP thing up...

If it has the limiter it will probably go up to 156 or 157 and then it will hold that RPM no matter how much more pressure you put on the gas pedal.
You can always dyno your car and find out if it has the speed limiter.

Why don't you tell us???? Did your car go faster than 155 or not? Seems fairly simple that you would know based on your original comments.

Hence it's limited. If you paid for it in your PP, then I'd bring it up to the dealer. I'm sure their mechanics can remove the limiter.
While I don't recommend going past 155MPH, if you paid for something you should get it, no matter how useless (or useful) it is.

There is no "partial" performance package. You either got the "030" option or you didn't. The speed limit is raised on all "030" optioned cars from the "normal" limit in an AMG of 155 mph to 300 kmh or approximately 186 mph. That revised limit is taken from the speed ratings of most performance tires which is (take a guess) about 186 mph.
Regular MB = 130 mph max.
AMG = 155 mph max.
"black series" or "030" optioned AMG's = 186 mph max.
You did not get the 030 option, and while it's possible to completely de-limit the ECU, the option was quite expensive and cannot be added now. If you paid for it, they owe you a lot of money or another car.
