Add SAME CAR, and I think we would be in.

The way we have always done shootouts is same day, same dyno (or track) and same car. That eliminates all variables. You drive the car the same manner and path to ensure adaptations, then you run it with both tunes.

You really must use the same car, as you could have a significant difference from one car to the next, so you may be comparing apples to oranges.

Brad

Brad,
Let's do it!

Can you make it happen for MIR (11/15)?

Thanks!

Brad,

Thanks for the comprehensive answers. In particular, thanks for stepping up to the plate for some head-to-head testing with MHP. I'm sure everyone is aware of all the distrust over tuner-provided performance information for their own products, so being able to see how two products do on the same car on the same day is invaluable to a lot of potential buyers who are either making up their mind or trying to feel comfortable with spending the money. I look forward to the results and hope they get here sooner rather than later.

I do have one last question - your dyno chart refer to the BS ECU tune, but the chart indicates its for a C63. I'm assuming that means you merely took the tune from your BS test car and installed it "as is" on the C63 test car. Is that correct?

Hope you feel better soon!

Simon, will the gains be the same for all 63'? I mean the amount of hp gains. or are the gains that high do to the c63 being detuned from the start? Great job

Obviously I can't state factually, but I am almost 100% certain the gains will vary from platform-to-platform, but the peaks should be roughly the same across all 63's (with exhaust providing the biggest variance).

No, I wish they were The C63 is electronically detuned from the factory so if we say a stock 63 AMG (non-C) makes roughly 415-418 RWHP, everything above that is what we should see as gains, with variances being mods, octane level, rotational mass, etc.

The only way to get that wheel and tire to fit is with body work. If you wanted to do a wide body, then you are good. If you want to keep the stock body, contact us direct and we can discuss.

For clarification, the article had a mistake in the size of the rear wheels. The rears are not 19x10...they are 19x11 shod with 305's. Which as Brad already mentioned will not fit on a C63 w/out modification to the fenders.

I was just informed by a rep from green filters USA that they do not have a replacement filter available for the C63 as of yet. Does anyone have a suggestion for another brand?

Does the Evo/PC flashing take place at Evosport or is the ECU sent to PC?

We use BMC, Green and AFE in general on Mercedes.

However we have tested all available filters for this car, and the only filters that are available today that make ANY gain over stock are the BMC, which we stock.

We do not use or recommend K&N on any car.

Thanks
Brad

I know you are not trying to bash K&N Products, but I just curious why? Because, I used K&N for the past years (and was considering it for my C63)

Thank's

After 34 years of using K&N filters I am still waiting for the filter damage.

K&N has been around that long? I have been using them since 1987.

Brad,
I may have to pick up a set of BMCs off of you to test vs the K&Ns I have in now.

Thanks
Andy

Well it is easy. About 6 years ago, we took apart 3 race BMW motors that had very little mileage (one 5 hours and one 15 hours) and both looked like the cyl walls were bead blasted. Both had K&N filters. Another motor of the same build with another brand had no cyl wall damage.

Upon further examiniation, it was found that when K&N makes their filters, they FOLD the pleats as opposed to round them. In fact, this was why a lead engineer left K&N and started AFE - just to have ROUNDED edges. When you fold them, they will not filter to the same level any longer.

It is for this reason that the only pleated gauze filters that we use are BMC, Green or AFE.

Just because you have not had a problem does not mean it is not a potential problem, remember that.

Would be interested in the test, but the reason that we do not use K&N has nothing to do with HP, but with reliability and safety for the power plant (see above).

thanks

I could see were a rounded as opposed to a folded edge could be a better way to go. I have used some AFE stuff and would say it is of good quality with no negative drawbacks.
